We’ve written about this deal in the past and it’s always been a huge hit!  Amazon has targeted some folks to receive $30 off orders of $60+ when you use at least 1 AMEX Membership Rewards point to pay for part of your purchase.

This is a fantastic offer, especially given you can buy just about anything from Amazon.  And it appears to be working for gift cards, too!

To qualify for this deal, you’ll need to have a card that earns AMEX Membership Rewards points linked to your Amazon account, like The Platinum Card® from American Express.

I’ll share with you the key terms of the offer.  And if you don’t want to miss out on deals like this in the future, subscribe to our newsletter.

This Is an Outstanding Deal!  By Using Just a Single AMEX Membership Rewards Point, You’ll Save $30 Off Any $60+ Order With Amazon!

Save Up to 50% Off at Amazon With 1 AMEX Membership Rewards Point

I love easy deals like this one.  Three of my family’s Amazon accounts were targeted and I used the offer to save on a few gift cards and items I’d planned on purchasing anyway!

Here are the details:

  • See if you’re eligible with this link
  • Offer is valid through December 31, 2019
  • Spend at least $60 on Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon)
  • At checkout, make sure you split your payment between cash and at least 1 AMEX Membership Rewards point
  • Confirm on the payment page that you’ve received $30 off your order

It’s worth noting that you should NOT normally use AMEX Membership Rewards points for Amazon purchases.  Because they’re more valuable when you transfer them to airline and hotel partners!  You can check out our guide to getting Big Travel with AMEX Membership Rewards points to learn more.

Worked on both my account and my wife’s account with a AmEx Business Blue loaded. Thanks!

Awesome! Glad to hear it worked.

I was so excited to finally be targeted for an offer!! BUT, when I went to check out (with two amazon-sold-fulfilled items) it wasn’t working…I reread the fine print and it says under #5 of terms and conditions: “Offer is not available to American Express Membership Rewards eligible cards whose points have been previously used for purchases at Amazon.com in the past twelve months.” I think I might have used some points before… 🙁
Since it’s good till the end of 2019, I wonder if I can determine if and when I used points and then just wait till 12 months have gone by??

That’s what I’m doing, Katie. I bookmarked this MMS post so I can go back to it in a few months and click on the same link and see if it works this time around. I’m not eligible right now, but will let a few months lapse to see if my 12 months have reset.

It only works for items dold and fulfilled by Amazon. If you have something in your cart that is not eligible, it won’t work.

Hey Tori! That’s right – thank you for sharing this tip! 🙂

Hi,

The link brings up a page that shows the offer with a checkmark but when checking out and adding amex points it is not working. Is there somewhere else I can see if I was targeted?

Thanks!

Hey Shelley! Make sure all the items in your cart and sold and shipped by Amazon, and that there’s no digital content. This deal won’t work with third-party sellers. Give that a try and see if it works for you. Hope that helps! 🙂

Yesterday, when I clicked the link it told me that I was eligible, however, I accidentally closed the browser (with all the things still in my cart). When I opened it again and went to Amazon to pay, it said that I was ineligible. I’ve tried to go through the same link again. Any suggestions??

Hi Erin! Did you try adding items to your cart and seeing if the discount was applied? I got a similar message too, but it worked when I went to check out. You only have to activate the offer one time.

I did, but I’ll try again! Thanks Harlan!!
