This year, Daily Getaways will have a new deal every weekday from April 4, 2016, until May 6, 2016. This comes soon after many folks earned lots of IHG points through a mail-in promotion earlier this year.
On April 6, 2016, at 1:00 pm Eastern Time, you can buy deeply discounted IHG hotel points, from ~0.57 cents per point to 0.6 cents per point:
- 15,000 IHG points for $90 (0.6 cents per point)
- 25,000 IHG points for $150 (0.6 cents per point)
- 50,000 IHG points for $293 (~0.59 cents per point)
- 100,000 IHG points for $565 (~0.57 cents per point)
IHG hotels include Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.
IHG normally sells points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each. And you can buy points for 0.7 cents each with the IHG Points & Cash trick or 0.6 cents with this version. So ~0.57 to 0.6 cents per point is a great deal. because it’s simpler. You can save up to ~50% off the normal rate!
The Early Bird Gets the Points
But you have to be quick to get in on these deals because in past years, they’ve sold out within minutes! There will be 7,000+ packages available when they go on sale.
This year, the limit is 3 to 5 of these packages per loyalty account number, depending on the deal. And no more than 16 packages across all the IHG hotel offers.
Whichever package you choose, you’ll see the points in your account within 10 business days.
Is It Worth It?
Depending on how you use your points, absolutely!
Buying points could make sense if you redeem them at expensive hotels in cities like Miami, New York, or Paris. Or for booking 5,000 IHG points PointBreaks nights for $35 a night!
For example, you could buy 50,000 IHG points for $293 and get a weekend night at the Crowne Plaza South Beach – Z Ocean Hotel.
A paid night costs ~$445 after taxes. With this deal, you’ll save ~$152 dollars on the normal room rate.
So you can save a lot of money buying IHG points through Daily Getaways and using them for award stays. But you should check the prices of the IHG hotels you want before you book.
You can also transfer IHG points to certain airlines, but it’s NOT a good value.
The IHG Card Is Worth Keeping
I’ve kept the Chase IHG card for years because for a $49 annual fee, you get a free night in ANY IHG hotel on your account anniversary each year. Even top-tier resorts like the InterContinental Bora Bora where Emily and I stayed!
And it’s a terrific way to earn lots of IHG points quickly. With the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card, you’ll earn 60,000 IHG points after meeting the minimum spending requirements. Plus a $50 statement credit after your 1st purchase.
Don’t Horde the Points, Enjoy Them!
Remember the IHG award chart can change at any time – I only recommend buying IHG points if you think you’ll spend them relatively soon. Points balances are NOT a savings account.
That said, if you have a use in mind for the points, set a reminder to buy a points package when they go on sale!
Other Daily Getaways Deals

- Save 50% (or More!) at Choice Hotels With Daily Getaways Travel Deals

I’ll let you know which deals are worth it, and which to skip!
