Royal Caribbean no longer offers its private in-room babysitting service, Sitters at Sea.  The new policy was implemented on September 30.  The cruise line still offers the Royal Babies & Tots drop-off program.

Royal Caribbean cited lack of demand for this service, and I can see why.  I’ve taken my daughter with me on several trips, including to Hawaii and Spain.  On all of our trips, we planned on not having a babysitter.  For my partner and I, booking a stranger just seems too risky and not worth it.

Royal Caribbean’s Royal Babies & Tots Program

Sometimes having a babysitter is necessary, and it’s nice to know that Royal Caribbean has a drop-off service as an option.  There are toddler-appropriate toys and activities and soft play areas.

There are also video screens playing cartoons and TV shows aimed at the under-3 set.  As a mom, I would rather drop her off in a TV-free zone, but when you’re on vacation, you take what you can get.
