Via Reddit, Cathay Pacific will be partnering with Synchrony Bank to offer a US credit card in early 2017.

This is potentially good news for folks who like to use miles & points to fly to Asia (and beyond!).  Especially because Cathay Pacific is one of the world’s best airlines.

Here’s more about earning and using miles for Cathay Pacific flights.

A New US Credit Card From Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific recently announced they’ll be releasing a US credit card issued by Synchrony Bank in early 2017.

We don’t yet know the details of the card, like what the sign-up bonus or perks will be.  But if it has a decent bonus, the card could be a good option for folks booking award tickets to Asian cities, like Hong Kong.

Especially if you’ve been in this hobby for a while and have a lot of cards from other issuers, like Chase or American Express.  The Cathay Pacific card from Synchrony Bank will give you another way to earn miles!

More About Cathay Pacific Miles & Award Flights

You can get award tickets on Cathay Pacific with American Airlines miles, Alaska Airlines miles, or British Airways Avios points.

I’ve written about how to find and book award flights on Cathay Pacific with American Airlines miles.

You can also credit flights on Cathay Pacific’s partner airlines, like Alaska Airlines, to your Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles) frequent flyer account.

Or transfer Citi ThankYou, AMEX Membership Rewards, or Starwood points to Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles).

Bottom Line

In 2017, Cathay Pacific will offer a US credit card issued by Synchrony Bank.

We don’t know what the card’s sign-up bonus will be, or if it will offer other perks.  But it could be a good way to earn Cathay Pacific miles for flights to Asia.  And give folks who already have a lot of other credit cards another way to earn more miles.

But remember, you can already buy award tickets on Cathay Pacific with American Airlines miles, Alaska Airlines miles, or British Airways Avios points.

Or transfer Citi ThankYou, AMEX Membership Rewards, or Starwood points to Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles).
