IHG Rewards released their new PointBreaks list. Hotels on the PointBreaks list cost only 5,000 points per night (the regular rate is 10,000 to 50,000 points)!
Here’s what looks interesting to me. But it doesn’t matter if they are interesting to me. What matters is that YOU find them interesting and can save money or points by booking them!
Holiday Inn San Diego North Miramar
Holiday Inn Express Omaha-Southwest
Intercontinental Marine Drive-Mumbai, India
Crowne Plaza Nairobi, Kenya
Holiday Inn Sofia, Bulgaria
Holiday Inn Eindhoven, Netherlands
Intercontinental Real Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Intercontinental Hangzhou, China
These are the hotels I find interesting. But take a look at the full PointBreaks list and see if there is a hotel that is useful for YOUR future travel plans.
You can book through May 31, 2014. But 5,000 IHG points per night is an incredible deal and the best hotels don’t last long.
How Can I Earn IHG Rewards Points?
You can get IHG Rewards points by:
- Using Cash & Points to buy points
- Transferring Ultimate Rewards points from your Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus.
- Applying for the IHG Rewards credit card for 80,000 points. It also includes a free night every year, after your 1st year which makes up for the annual fee.
Usually, transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to IHG Rewards is NOT the best value, but it certainly could make sense for hotels on the PointBreaks list.
If you’re comfortable with using the cash and points trick, you can effectively buy IHG points for 0.7 cents per point. This is a better value than redeeming Ultimate Rewards points directly for IHG points.
The PointBreaks list is available through May 31, 2014.
It doesn’t hurt to book using points, because you can usually cancel without a penalty. But read the cancellation policy before booking!
Hotels may sell out and can be removed from the list at any time. So if you see a hotel you like, book quickly!
