Hilton is offering up to 9,000 bonus Hilton points for a 4 night weekend stays between February 1, 2014 and April 30, 2014.  But I don’t see this as a particularly good deal!

Not So Good Hilton Weekend Promotion
Stay for 4 “Weekend” Nights and Get 9,000 Bonus Points

The Bonus

You can earn 1,000 points for each night that you stay.  And you will earn an extra 5,000 points for weekend stays of two or more nights.

However, “weekends” are defined as Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.  So that’s more than 50% of the week!

These points are in addition to base points that you would already earn for stays.

Terms & Conditions

You have to register for the promotion and you must register before your first stay.

Most frustratingly, there is a l-o-n-g list of hotels which aren’t taking part in this promotion.

Worth it or Not?

If you’re lucky enough to stay at a Hilton which is participating in the promotion, you could get some extra points.

But these promotions are even more lucrative:

Bottom Line

I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay in a Hilton hotel to take part in this promotion.

But if you’ve already got stays planned in Hilton hotels, it doesn’t hurt to register for the promotion.

I sighed in for this deal, and try to book the hotel Palm House Hilton in Chicago. Why I didn’t see the room with Weekend Promotion deal choice? only has room with 2x point choices. Do I need to actually make the book then I can see the extra points for Weekend Promotion?

Million Mile Secrets

@Jenny – I don’t believe you will see the bonus points when you book the room. But will get them afterwards if you signed up for the promotion.

Thanks for the response. Let me call them to find out – for some reason, I assumed that it has a fee.

I have the card, have got 40,000 points on it as the sign-in bonus, but want to cancel as I don’t want to pay the annual fee. What could I use/transfer the points for?

Million Mile Secrets

@Porcupyn – Which card are you referring to? I don’t believe the regular Hilton cards have an annual fee.

You and your assumptions.

I’ll look forward to reading your site full of sage advice if/when you decide to make one.

In the meantime I’ll pull sound advice from here and elsewhere and make intelligent decisions on how to accrue points that work with my travel and spending style. As inane as 5000 points for a weekend may sound to you, it sounds like a no brainer to me when I have previously booked business travel at Hilton.

@Charles, I’m assuming you max’d out the number of cards to accrue so many HH points. I’m assuming you could have amassed as many airline or AmEx points with the same number of cards and those miles/points are infinitely more valuable?
