Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

1.   50,000 Membership Rewards Points.  The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express OPEN which used to offer zero points is now offering 50,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 within 3 months.

This isn’t as good as some of the 1-day offers for 75,000 Membership Rewards points, but which had a higher ($10,000) minimum spending requirement.

I’ll share my thoughts on this offer next week, but I wouldn’t apply for this card unless I had a specific trip in mind and had researched how American Express Membership Rewards points were going to help me get there.

American Express Membership Rewards points do have value, but they aren’t as easy to use as Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

2.   Business Class to Europe for ~$1,500.   MileValue explains how to buy TACA airlines miles and then redeem for award flights on Star Alliance airlines.

You can’t take part in this offer unless you had a TACA account set up before September 3, 2012, but register now for next time!

I wouldn’t stockpile miles to use later, since the redemption rates could increase.  But this is a good trick for trips which you will book soon.

Followup to my question of 12 sep — the 50000 MR points did post, so it looks like the targeted offer’s language of “Existing American Express OPEN Business Gold Rewards Card members are not eligible for this offer” did apply, and my three-month prior cancellation of the same card didn’t interfere with the offer.

@skdelta – Glad it worked out and thanks for sharing!

Can you meet the minimum spend for this card with purchasing AMEX gift cards through their site?

@df – You can, but I wouldn’t buy too many cards directly from AMEX for fear of a financial review. But you could use it to buy gift cards at other stores.

Most of the new Business Gold cards (e.g. the one-day 75000 or 50000 MR bonus links above) say “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product or any other Business Gold, Green or Platinum Card® account within the last 12 months”, but I received a targeted email through the Delta Skymiles Amex channel for a 50000 MR/$5000/3month (similar to the 50000/5000/3 card above), but it has a slightly different language: “Existing American Express OPEN Business Gold Rewards Card members are not eligible for this offer.” — has anyone seen this language and/or have experience with this one? I had cancelled my Amex Business Gold about 3 months ago, so clearly would not be eligible for the 75000 one-day or 50000 offers linked above, but am not sure about the targeted one.

@skdelta – I don’t have personal experience, but the terms seem to suggest that you would get the miles again. But I don’t know what recourse you’d have if you complete the spending and don’t get the miles.

@chris – what was the code?

maybe they will put it on other accounts like they used too.

A few weeks ago I got a targetted offer for 75,000 membership reward points for spending $2,000 by early December. I applied and got my American Express Gold Business after about a week. $175 membership fee waived for the first year.

@J .M. – The points usually post once the statement in which you’ve completed the minimum spending requirements closes.

@Steve @Zz – For someone new to the game, Chase Ultimate Rewards points are easier to use – primarily because of United and Hyatt as transfer partners. You can’t apply for everything at once, so better to plan out a trip and see what you need to get there!

@Chris – 75K points is a great offer!
