1. Get 1,000 Free Southwest Points for Filing Your TaxesFolks on Reddit report you can get 1,000 Southwest points when you file your taxes with TurboTax this year.
And, the free online version of TurboTax qualifies for this deal, so the extra Southwest points cost you nothing!
To get the offer, files your taxes by April 18, 2016 (or April 19, 2016, for folks in Maine and Massachusetts), and be sure to click through this page.
Lots of folks commented they had to follow-up with Southwest to receive their bonus points. And keep in mind federal taxes are free to file, but you may have to pay to file state taxes, depending on where you live.
This promotion isn’t right for everybody. I do NOT recommend filing your taxes with TurboTax just to earn free points. But if y’all were planning to file online anyway, this is an easy way to build your Southwest points balance!
2. Hyatt Suite Upgrades Have New Expiration Rules
Via The Points Guy, Hyatt has tweaked their policy for Diamond Suite Upgrade certificates. Previously, an upgrade could be applied to reservations after its expiration date, as long as the suite was confirmed before it expired.
But for upgrade certificates issued on March 1, 2016, you’ll have to complete your stay before they expire on February 28, 2017.
It’s a change that enforces the expiration date more closely. And it’s something to be aware of if you were lucky enough to get free Hyatt Diamond status in late 2015.
Keep in mind you can confirm a suite upgrade at booking up to 4 times per year with Hyatt Diamond elite status, even if you got the 4th night free through Citi Prestige. That makes 1 of the 10 best deals in travel even “suite-r!” 🙂
3. WOW Air Will Fly Daily From Baltimore Starting June 2016
Good news for folks in Washington, DC (Baltimore)! Starting June 2016, WOW Air will increase its flights from Baltimore (BWI) to Reykjavik from 4 to 5 flights per week to every day.
Fares on this route are sometimes as low as $99. And usually very cheap other times. I flew WOW Air on my trip to Iceland and enjoyed my flight very much. And Icelanders surprised me with their kindness!Baltimore is 1 of the best cities for cheap flights. And WOW Air flies to Iceland (and beyond) from Boston, too.
And starting in June 2016, folks in Los Angeles and San Francisco will be able to get to Europe cheaply on WOW Air.
I’m always glad to hear about new options to Europe. And I’ll let you know if I find any excellent flight sales!
4. Get 25 Free Hertz PointsHertz has a promotion to earn free car rental days when you register for their Winter Bonus promotion and complete at least 2 rentals.
But, you’ll earn free Hertz points for simply registering!
