IHG Rewards just released their new PointBreaks list for hotels. Hotels on the PointsBreak list cost only 5,000 points per night (the regular rate is 10,000 to 50,000 points)!
The new IHG PointBreaks hotels can be booked through September 30, 2014.
IHG PointBreaks Hotels
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any hotels which fit in with my travel plans, but it’s a terrific deal if you can find a hotel that works for you!
Here’s a list of included hotels that look interesting:
Intercontinental Miramar, Panama City, Panama
Crowne Plaza Sahara Sands, Port Ghalib, Egypt
Intercontinental Multiplaza Mall, San Jose, Costa Rica
Staybridge Suites, Savannah Airport, Georgia
Holiday Inn Express, Downers Grove, Chicago, Illinois
Hotel Indigo Raleigh Durham Airport, North Carolina
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Albuquerque North, New Mexico
Crowne Plaza Belem, Brazil
Hotel Indigo Toronto Airport, Toronto
Holiday Inn Brentwood, Essex, UK
Intercontinental Cali, Colombia
Intercontinental Bucharest, Romania
These are just a few of the PointBreaks hotels that look good to me, but take a peek at the full list to see if there are any other hotels that could be useful for your travel plans.
Need More IHG Points?
You can get IHG Rewards points by:
- Using Cash & Points to buy points for 0.7 cents per point
- Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points from your Chase Sapphire Preferred, (no longer offered) Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus
- Applying for the IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card. It also includes a free night every year, after your 1st year which makes up for the annual fee.
And for a limited time, you can buy them directly from IHG for ~0.72 cents per point!
Usually, transferring points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to IHG Rewards is NOT the best value because you can usually get IHG hotel points cheaper. But it certainly could make sense for hotels on the PointsBreak list.
If you’re comfortable with using the cash and points trick, you can buy IHG Rewards points and then get a statement credit of 1 cent per Chase Ultimate Rewards point. This is a better value than redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards points directly for IHG Rewards points.
Don’t Wait to Book!
Don’t count on the IHG PointBreaks hotels being available through September 30, 2014, because hotels may sell out and can be removed from the list at any time.
It doesn’t hurt to make a booking using points, because you can usually cancel them without a penalty (but read the cancellation policy before booking!).
The new IHG PointBreaks list was just released. All hotels on this list can booked for just 5,000 IHG points through September 30, 2014. This is a great deal if you can find a hotel that meets your needs.
If you find a hotel you like, don’t hesitate to book it! Because the best hotels on the list will be gone fast!
