Good news! According to USA Today, Congress has approved funds to add more TSA screeners.
Hopefully this means less waiting in line at the airport…and more time spent enjoying your vacation! 😉

Here’s more about this news.
TSA Increasing the Number of Security Screeners at Airports Nationwide
Congress has approved funding for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), allowing them to spend more money on day-to-day operations. Like adding more TSA screeners at airport security lines!
The TSA will convert ~2,700 part-time screeners to full-time and hire an additional 600 TSA officers. In doing so, they’ll be able to open 53 more security lines throughout the US this year.
This is great news for all of us. But don’t forget there are other ways to get through security faster, like with TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.
Cards That Offer Free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
TSA PreCheck is a great way to save time at the airport. But it’s a better deal to sign-up for Global Entry (which comes with TSA PreCheck).
Plus, with Global Entry you’ll get through US Customs faster when you travel back to the US!
Global Entry is available at 59 airports worldwide. It costs $100 to apply and is valid for 5 years. But the fee is refunded if you pay with one of these cards:
- American Express Platinum (personal)
- American Express Platinum (small business)
- The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Mercedes-Benz
- Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard®
- Citi Prestige® Card
These cards also offer a TSA PreCheck ($85) reimbursement (but you can’t get both TSA PreCheck and Global Entry credits – you must choose).
You’re eligible for the fee reimbursement once every 5 years.
You can read more about both programs here. And don’t forget about these tips for getting a quicker Global Entry appointment.
I’m happy about this news! Let me know about your experience getting through security on your next trip!
Maybe, you should actually not see the fact that “All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”.
Guess the ones that pay and extra fee get a little extra convience, even though we all pay taxes for a bloated system. That also has incompetent employees ran by money hunger fear mongering leadership.
Enough with the TSA bring back regular Airport security covered by the Airlines, so I can kiss my wife goodbye at the gate – not by rows and rows of cones waiting like a common criminal. How scared can you people be, Fear is a cancer and you may be infected. But hey looks like 1941 Germany more and more. Pay for privilege, just like the many that escaped the horrors of war. Dam snowflake generation, instead of say security was a breeze see the eroding liberties you are allowing to happen.
Flew St. Louis to Atlanta on the 7th and security was a breeze. Only negative was a hand sanitizer dispenser was empty.
Nice to spend less time in the security queue. Thanks for the update Darius
Definitely not more time spent enjoying your vacation!
It probably is more time spent at the Gate
