This past fall Marriott revealed that they had uncovered what turned out to be one of the largest data breaches in history. Starwood, which has been acquired by Marriott, had a data leak stretching all the back to 2014!
If you’ve been wondering what, if any, of your personal information was comprised by the hack, Marriott has provided a way to find out if you were impacted.
Check If You Were Part of the Marriott Data Breach
This hack ending up impacting 380+ million guests and included personal information such as:
- Name
- Mailing address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Passport number
- Date of birth
Marriott has hired the security firm OneTrust to handle the process of helping you find out if you were one of the unlucky ones.
If you want to go through this process, know that it’s not instant. You’ll need to fill out the form at this link. And then confirm your email address by clicking a link they send you. Then it’s a waiting game. I have no idea how long the process should take.
There is a box for your old Starwood account number (if you can remember it) and your passport information, but both are optional. Personally, I’d rather not give my passport number to a company I don’t trust.
