Here’s our Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX review

I consider myself extra fortunate because my sister lives in Santa Barbara and her partner is the Chef De Cuisine at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara.  What better excuse does one need to visit this lovely spot and enjoy the luxury experience of staying at this particular hotel?

And, of course, a visit is never complete without a sumptuous meal at Angel Oak, the hotel’s steakhouse.  It’s always such a fun experience for someone (me!) who lives in a small town in Montana that only has four restaurants – three of which are pizza joints. 🙂

But I’m not going to lie, the amazing food isn’t cheap!  Luckily, I brought my AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card with me during our most recent visit and made quick use of the card’s $300 annual statement credit.  And I’m happy to report that using this card perk couldn’t have been any easier!

My family and I were able to enjoy incredible cocktails and an outstanding multi-course meal without worrying about the price tag.  I paid with my AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card and the credit appeared on my statement within a week!

Do stays at the Marriott Vacation club count? I’m not a MVC owner but I’m a Gold Marriott member.

Also very easy: buy a Marriott gift card online. Use it later or resell it on eBay or a card resell site.

Just to clarify, you stayed at the hotel and charged to your room vs only eating at the restaurant and not staying at the hotel.

I was staying at the hotel, yes. But you could use your card at this particular restaurant and it would still qualify for the credit. As long as it shows as a charge from Marriott (which it would if it’s the hotel’s restaurant) then it will qualify.

I don’t understand. It applies to hotel stays also. What’s the point of this besides a shameless plug for the restaurant itself…

No point at all. Just as u said, shameless plug 🙂

@Jo. It’s a great restaurant so why not tell others. Get off your high horse.
