There’s not much time left to book award stays at top-tier Marriott hotels for only 60,000 points per night. This includes amazing hotels like The St. Regis Bora Bora, The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai, and many others!
In early 2019, Marriott will add a higher award category for the chain’s most luxurious properties. And you’ll have to pay at least 25,000 more points per night for a standard redemption. They’ll also have peak pricing, which will cost an additional 40,000 points per night. So a hotel that costs 60,000 points per night now could increase to 100,000 points per night, depending on your travel dates! Be sure to sign-up for our newsletter so you don’t miss out on when the change takes place.
In anticipation of the increased prices, I booked a free night at The St. Regis New York City for next weekend. Keep in mind, you can book a Marriott stay ~11 months in advance. So you can book a luxury getaway now before prices increase, even if you don’t have travel plans until later in 2019.
You might have points to book a Marriott stay without realizing it, too. Remember, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio because Marriott is a hotel partner.

In early 2019, 60 of Marriott’s top hotels will move to the new Category 8 tier. Until the change occurs, you can book a free night for 60,000 Marriott points. An even better deal is booking 5 consecutive nights because Marriott offers a 5th night free on award stays. This means you can book a 5-night stay at unbelievable hotels like The St. Regis Aspen for 240,000 Marriott points, which equates to just 48,000 Marriott points per night!
If you don’t have enough Marriott points in your account, remember Marriott allows points advances. This means you can book a stay, and as long as you have the required points in your account at least 14 days prior to check-in, you’re good to go.
Be sure to check out our guide with all of the ways to earn Marriott points! The quickest way to boost your Marriott points balance is to apply for the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express or Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express. Each card has a welcome bonus of 75,000 Marriott points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.
My wife and I used Marriott points to book a one night stay at The St. Regis New York for next weekend. I ran a poll on the Million Mile Secrets Instagram page and folks voted for The St. Regis over The Ritz-Carlton near Central Park, which is why I decided to book it. Thanks all who voted!
