Don’t forget, today is the last day to activate the quarterly bonus on the Chase Freedom card!
This is a great way to earn lots of extra points if you haven’t finished your holiday shopping yet! Remember, not all department stores are on the list, so double check before you spend.
And if you do your shopping online, you can earn extra points or cash back by checking sites like Evreward for the best shopping portal bonuses.
What Are Chase Freedom Category Bonuses?
Link: Chase Freedom Card
You can earn 5 points per $1 you spend, or 5% cash back, on categories that change every 3 months.
For October, November, and December 2014, the Chase Freedom bonus categories are Amazon, Zappos, and department stores. You’ll earn the bonus on spending in these categories, up to $1,500 this quarter.
You must have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to hotels and airlines.
But you have to activate the bonus each quarter. It doesn’t happen automatically.
If you activate today, the bonus is retroactive, so you’ll earn 5% (up to $1,500 in spending, or 7,500 Ultimate Rewards points) for purchases you made in the bonus categories starting from October.
When Can We Activate Next Quarter’s Bonus?
Starting tomorrow, you can activate the bonus for the 1st quarter of 2015. The bonus categories for January, February, and March 2015 are grocery stores (not including Target and Walmart), Starbucks, and movie theaters.
Today is the last day to activate the Chase Freedom card 4th quarter category bonus
for Amazon, Zappos, and department stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Kohl’s.
You’ll earn 5 Ultimate Rewards points per $1 spent, or 5% cash back on these categories until December 31, 2014.
And from December 15, 2014, you can register for the 2015 1st quarter bonus categories (grocery stores, Starbucks, and movie theaters).
