And, it looks like they’re thinking of changing the bonus categories of online shopping & travel, and AT&T purchases, to earn fewer points per $1 spent!
I’ll share what we know so far!
What’s Happening?
Link: My Review of the Citi AT&T Access More Card
The regular sign-up bonus for the Citi AT&T Access More card is a credit up to $650 towards a new (no-contract) cell phone after spending $2,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
That is, when it’s available!
At this point, we don’t know if Citi is discontinuing, or simply updating, this card.
Changes to Bonus Categories?
Although, when I clicked “Next Step” on the application page, I found new rewards terms. And they’re NOT as good!
You usually earn 3X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent at AT&T, online retailers, and travel sites.
But this indicates they may be changing it to 2X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent in those categories.
I’m not sure if they’re changing the sign-up bonus, or just the bonus categories. And I do NOT have confirmation of any changes.
What Now?
Many folks used this card to earn a new phone up to $650. It came in handy during the Christmas season when Discover had an incredible promotion to earn up to 22% cash back on purchases with Apple Pay.
We don’t know if current cardholders will be grandfathered in to the old bonus category rates (like the Citi Forward card). Or if they’ll have to adjust to earning fewer points.
This was an incredible deal for online shopping. And for folks who needed a new phone.
Like all good deals, it’s important to jump on them while they’re still available. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information!
Bottom Line
It looks like the Citi AT&T Access More card is currently NOT available for new applicants. And if it comes back, it may have changes to its bonus categories, sign-up bonus, or both.
I found signs that Citi will change the points structure to earn 2X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent for online travel and shopping, and AT&T purchases. It used to be 3X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent in those categories.
I do NOT have confirmation of these changes. But I’ll let y’all know when I find out more details!
