Here’s Another Way to Earn a Ton of Marriott Points for Stays at Amazing Hotels

Let’s have a look at the new AMEX Starwood Luxury card!

The New AMEX Starwood Luxury Card

The new AMEX Starwood Luxury Card comes with 100,000 bonus Marriott points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  This is a limited-time offer, ending October 31, 2018.

But most of us in the miles & points hobby will have to apply MUCH sooner than October 31 to get this bonus.  That’s because Chase and AMEX are establishing new rules in just 3 days, on August 26, 2018.  These new rules will make it MUCH harder for folks to open multiple Marriott and Starwood credit cards.

Check out my reminder post about these rules here.  If you have other Marriott cards, you’ll probably want to apply for this card within the next 3 days.

In addition to the welcome bonus, you’ll get valuable benefits like:

  • 6 Marriott points per $1 at Marriott hotels
  • 3 Marriott points per $1 at US restaurants and flights booked directly with airlines
  • 2 Marriott points per $1 on everything else
  • Up to $300 annual statement credit to use at participating SPG and Marriott hotels (including room charge!)
  • Annual free night (worth up to 50,000 points) after you renew your card
  • Priority Pass Select membership (you can bring up to 2 guests)
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Credit (a value of up to $100)
  • Terms & limitations apply

The card comes with a $450 annual fee.  That’s high, but you’ll get way more value from this card as long as you spend at least $300 at Marriott hotels a year.  The $300 Marriott statement credit can effectively bring the net annual fee cost down to $150 ($450 annual fee – $300 credit).

Plus you’ll get lots of additional money-saving perks that can more than offset the annual fee.

Stay tuned for our full analysis of the card.  But until then, you can read The Points Guy’s detailed review to decide if it’s the right card for you!

Do you plan to apply for this card before August 26, 2018?
