American Express has added the ability to freeze your American Express card with a recent website update. What does this mean? It means that your card won’t work until it’s unfrozen.

This will be incredibly helpful if there comes a time you want to stop access to your card, without having to cancel it. Maybe your son or daughter “accidentally” took your card back to college with them after summer break? 😉

The great thing is, the function is incredibly easy to use. Just log in to your AMEX card account and click “Account Services” from the homepage.

You’ll Find the “Freeze Your Card” Option Under the “Account Services” Tab

From there, click “Freeze Your Card.”

At that point, you can click the “Freeze Card” button and you’re all set!

The Freeze and Unfreeze Process Is Essentially the Same!

Unfreezing your card is as simple as following the same process. It literally takes just a few seconds!
