Register now for IHG’s latest promotion to see how many extra points you can earn!  When you sign-up, you’ll get a customized offer with a number of tasks to complete to earn IHG points for future IHG hotel stays.

IHG hotels include Candlewood SuitesCrowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts, Hotel IndigoIntercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.

Just remember, bookings made through 3rd-party sites like Orbitz will NOT count towards the promotion.  Your stay MUST be booked directly through IHG to qualify.

The tasks and total number of bonus IHG points you can earn depend on how often you stay with IHG, your elite status, and other factors.

Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin has IHG Platinum status because she has the Chase IHG® Rewards Club Select Card , but only had 2 paid nights and 2 award nights over the past year.  She was offered up to 41,000 bonus IHG points for completing 4 tasks through the promotion:

IHG Accelerate Promotion
You’ll Have to Decide Whether It Makes Sense to Take Advantage of This Promotion, Depending on Your Personalized Offer

She can earn 3,000 IHG points for booking just 1 stay, which is a nice bonus.  But to earn the majority of the bonus points with this promotion, she’ll need to stay at least 5 nights at an IHG hotel.  Which can be a lot for some folks.

Others have reported being targeted to earn 60,000+ bonus IHG points with the IHG Accelerate promotion.  So register to see your offer, and decide whether it makes sense for you to move paid stays to IHG.

Don’t forget, IHG is currently running the Priceless Experiences promotion, which should stack with the new Accelerate promotion.  Through February 15, 2017, MasterCard holders can earn up to a $100 MasterCard gift card when they stay twice at IHG hotels.

Is This a Good Deal?

I’d suggest signing-up for the deal even if you don’t have any IHG hotel stays planned.  Because it’s free and easy to register, and you never know when a travel opportunity might come up!

But depending on your particular offer, it may or may not make sense to stay at an IHG hotel just to earn bonus points.

Plus, there are other easy ways to earn IHG points, like buying points with the Cash & Points trick.  Or applying for the Chase IHG card which comes with a 60,000 IHG point sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements.  And a $50 statement credit after your first purchase.

You can read my review of the Chase IHG card here.

IHG Accelerate Promotion
You Could Stay at the Intercontinental Resort and Spa in Moorea With the Chase IHG Rewards Club Card

Don’t forget, you can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG at a 1:1 ratio.  But only if you have certain cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred, or Ink Plus and Ink Bold (no longer available).

And if you have any one of those cards, you can transfer the Chase Ultimate Rewards points you earn with cards like the Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Business Cash Credit Card, to IHG.

Although usually you’ll save more money by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to partners like Hyatt and United Airlines.  But it might make sense if you’re booking a hotel on the PointBreaks list. 😉

Bottom Line

With IHG’s new 2017 Accelerate promotion, you can earn bonus IHG points for completing tasks and stays at IHG hotels.  The deal is valid for stays between January 1, 2017, and April 15, 2017, booked directly with IHG.

You can register here to see how many bonus IHG points you can earn.  Everyone’s offer will be slightly different, depending on how often you stay with IHG, your elite status, and other factors.

It’s worth signing-up for the deal even if you don’t have any IHG hotel stays planned, because it only takes a few minutes!

Hi Daraius,

I suspect that booking with Points and Cash will not count as qualified night. Is that correct ? Thanks !

Hi Daraius, Thank you so much for your reminder ! I got a 41,000 points offer ( 4 items ), which I can easily get 30,000 points with one night stay ( with bonus points package and IHG credit card ). My wife got a 79,300 points offer ( 5 items, but a little more complicated ). Easy for her to get 16,500 points for staying one night in China ( planned in March ). Trying to add staying in two other brands ( 3 brands will get 28,800 points ), and will then get another 23,000 points by satisfying 4 of 5 items – She will hopefully get a total 68,300 points. Pretty excited about the two offers that we get ( Total 120,300 points, which we stretch a little bit to get 98,300 points ). I did get my 40k points in 2016 Accelerate program, which I needed to call a few times to get them straight, but it is worth it ! Thanks again…. Raymond

Be sure to check if you need to book after January 1st for stays in January. I booked stays for the 2016 Accelerate promo after registering for the promotion but a couple of weeks before the first stay. I did not get my bonus points because IHG says I needed to book the nights after the first day of the promotion period, not after registering. I had stays starting the first day of the promotion and they’re saying I had to wait until the arrival day to book to get the bonus.

Pretty shady if you ask me.
