Good news for folks who like earning IHG points! Via View From the Wing, you can now register for IHG’s latest Accelerate promotion, and earn bonus IHG points for completing stays and certain tasks between May 15, 2017, and August 31, 2017.
Some folks have been targeted to earn 60,000+ IHG points with this offer! That’s enough points for a night at a luxury IHG hotel, like the InterContinental London Park Lane, which costs 60,000 IHG points per night.
I’ll show you how to take advantage of this offer.
IHG Accelerate Promotion
Registration for IHG’s latest promotion is now open, so you can see how many extra points you can earn!
When you sign-up, you’ll get a customized offer with a number of tasks to complete to earn bonus IHG points.
IHG hotels include Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.
The tasks and total number of bonus IHG points you can earn depend on factors like how often you stay with IHG and your elite status.
Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin has IHG Platinum status because she has the Chase IHG® Rewards Club Select Card. She was offered up to 43,000 bonus IHG points for completing 5 tasks through the promotion:
She can earn 2,500 IHG points for booking just 1 stay, which is a nice bonus. But to earn the majority of the bonus points with this promotion, she’ll need to stay at least 5 nights at an IHG hotel. And that can be a lot for some!
Others have reported being targeted to earn 60,000+ bonus IHG points with the IHG Accelerate promotion. So it’s worth registering to see your offer, then decide whether it makes sense for you to move paid stays to IHG.
Note: The registration page is being buggy, but if you change the “us” in the web address to “gb,” you should be able to sign up.
And don’t forget, IHG is currently running their Sunshine Sale, that’s good through April 28, 2017 tomorrow!). That sale should stack with the new Accelerate promotion.
Depending on your personal travel goals, it make more sense to take advantage of other current hotel deals. Like Hilton’s “Go More Get More” offer.
Is This a Good Deal?
I recommend signing-up for the offer even if you don’t have any IHG hotel stays planned. Because it’s free and easy to register, and you never know when a travel opportunity might come up!
But whether or not it makes sense to stay at an IHG hotels just to earn points depends on your personal offer.
And there are other easy ways to earn IHG points, like buying points with the Cash & Points trick. Or applying for the Chase IHG card, which comes with a 60,000 IHG point sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements. And a $50 statement credit after your first purchase.
Remember, you can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to IHG at a 1:1 ratio, if you have cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred, or Ink Plus and Ink Bold (no longer available).
That said, you’ll usually save more money by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to partners like Hyatt and United Airlines. But it could make sense if you’re booking a hotel on the PointBreaks list!
