Wow. I had no idea how valuable Hyatt points were about to get when Hyatt announced they were partnering with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) a few months ago.
But now that Hyatt has made available 54 of these hotels to book with points, the verdict is in: These hotels are DOPE.
Fortunately, Hyatt points are extremely easy to earn directly from the World of Hyatt Credit Card. Or even better, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve.
I looked at every hotel to see which of this first wave of hotels offer the best deal for your points. Here are my top 6 recommendations, where you can receive a value of up to 4 cents per point!
Here are 6 Small Luxury Hotels locations you can book with Hyatt points for incredible value!
Best Small Luxury Hotels of the World to Book With Hyatt Points
Until recently, we had no idea how Hyatt would categorize these new SLH hotels. If you were like me, you were anxious that this entire new portfolio would fall under the new Category 8, costing 40,000 Hyatt points per night.
But with the hotels Hyatt has made available so far, very few of them cost that much! Most hotels fall under much lower categories, like the Pangkor Laut Resort in Malaysia which costs just 20,000 Hyatt points per night, and the Hotel St. Petersbourg in Estonia, which costs just 15,000 Hyatt points per night.
Another excellent reason to stay at SLH hotels is that all World of Hyatt members will receive the following perks at participating locations:
- Free Wi-Fi
- Daily free continental breakfast
- 1 category room upgrade (at check-in if available)
- Early check-in (noon, based upon availability at check-in)
- Late check-out (2:00 pm, based upon availability at check-in)
This is pretty amazing, particularly for folks who do NOT have Hyatt elite status.
With the 54 hotels Hyatt has released so far, I’m not seeing any oversized value for using your Hyatt points to reserve SLH hotels in Asia. All the best deals were located in Europe.
El Lodge Ski and Spa
I’m a big fan of skiing, and El Lodge Ski and Spa in Granada, Spain, looks like the kind of place I’ve always wanted to go. Stone fireplaces, giant exposed beam lounges, antler chandeliers, the whole shebang. And you’ll get an open-air Jacuzzi on a private terrace when you use your points to book!
Cash price: $740
Points price: 30,000 Hyatt points
Value per point: ~2.47 cents
Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa
Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa is located in Luton, UK. The stately manor is one of the cheapest points options on this list. Surprising for a mansion where you’d imagine encountering Fitzwilliam Darcy.
Cash price: ~$400
Points price: 15,000 Hyatt points
Value per point: ~2.67 cents
The View Lugano
Of any country I’ve visited overseas, the one that beckons me back most avidly is Switzerland! Every nook is so beautiful.
The View Lugano is located in Lugano Paradiso, Switzerland, overlooking the Lugano lake. It’s in Hyatt’s new category 8, so it costs more points than just about every other Hyatt hotel. But booking with points puts you straight into a gorgeous junior suite with stellar views!
Cash price: ~$1,100
Value per point: ~2.75 cents per point
Hotel Le Strato
Another ski lodge. And it’s by far the best deal I found during my SLH hotel investigation.
The Hotel Le Strato in Courchevel, France, is a ski-in/ski-out resort located at the foot of the Cospillot piste. When you book with points, you have the option to reserve a junior suite with the same amount of points as the standard room. Which is an excellent perk, because junior suites cost hundreds more!
Cash price: ~$1,600
Value per point: ~4 cents
On the Rocks
If you don’t want to visit Santorini, you must not be an Instagram regular. It’s that white-rock community that owns the greatest view of earth’s sunsets.
On the Rocks is located in Santorini, Greece, a couple hundred meters above the Aegean Sea. It has gorgeous cave-style rooms, and it’s priced accordingly. Fortunately, you have Hyatt points.
Cash price: ~$700
Points price: 25,000 Hyatt points
Value per point: ~2.8 cents
Hotel & Spa Des Pecheurs
To be honest, Hotel & Spa Des Pecheurs is only a fair deal with points. It’s not difficult to find hotels that give you a better value per point. But remember, it’s not all about getting the “best value”! Use your points in the way that makes you happiest.
For me, I wouldn’t mind splurging with my points on a beautiful hotel like this. It’s located along the southern tip of Corsica, France. The rooms have private balconies that hang over the Tyrrhenian Sea, with white sand beaches just seconds away.
Cash price: ~$830
Value per point: ~2.1 cents
Bottom Line
Hyatt’s latest reveal of SLH (Small Luxury Hotels of the World) hotel award prices is a pleasant surprise to me. Many are very reasonable.
Just as with all Hyatt hotels, if you can receive a value of 2+ cents, you’re using them the right way. And with these SLH hotels, you should have no problem achieving that value.
That said, use your points however you want. Don’t get too caught up in value per point. I’ve certainly used points for a less-than-fabulous value just because I wanted to treat myself and my travel buddies without spending money. Besides, it’s easy to earn more Hyatt points with cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred! because you can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.
