Travelers love GoPro cameras because of their small size, great quality, and versatility.  We used our GoPro, a Hero 6, on a recent trip to Costa Rica.  GoPro recently came out with a new videocam, the Hero 7.

And this quarter through December 31, 2018, you can earn 5% cash back (5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points) when you pay with your Chase Freedom® credit card in Best Buy stores using Chase Pay.  You’ll earn the bonus on up to $1,500 in Chase Pay purchases (combined with wholesale clubs and department stores) after you activate.

The information for the Chase Freedom has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets.  The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

I asked Douglas, a professional photographer and videographer, for his opinion on the new line, and here is his take on it:

The Hero 7 and Hero 6 basically have the same video quality.  If you have a Hero 6 with a karma stabilizer, then you can most likely pass on the Hero 7.  But if you are wanting a GoPro that has a built in stabilizer, then the Hero 7 would be a good buy–especially for people who tend to travel, but want to haul less equipment.

Where to Buy the GoPro Hero 7 and Earn 5X Points

You can purchase the GoPro Hero7 at Best Buy.  And the Chase Freedom bonus categories for this quarter (through December 31, 2018) are department stores, wholesale clubs, and Chase Pay when you activate the bonus.  Although Best Buy is not a department store (it’s classified as an electronics store), Best Buy does use Chase Pay.

You’ll have to go in a Best Buy store though, because you can’t use Chase Pay at Best Buy stores online.  The GoPro Hero 7 costs $399, so at 5X points, you’ll earn ~2,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you pay with your Chase Freedom® card using Chase Pay.

If you have other electronic purchases to make, then you’ll get 5X points for up to $1,500 spent during the quarter in all the bonus categories combined.  But don’t forget to activate your Chase Freedom card so that you can receive the bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points!  It’s easy.  Chase sends you an email reminder to click.
