If you book paid hotel stays, the 4th night free perk with the Citi Prestige card can save you lots of money! Using this benefit just 1 or 2 times can completely offset the card’s annual fee.
Several Million Mile Secrets team members use the 4th night benefit for their paid hotel stays. Team member Jasmin has saved $730 with this perk in ~13 months. And team members Keith and Harlan have each received more than $2,800 in statement credits during the time they’ve had the Citi Prestige!
With recent changes, it’s now easier to use this fantastic credit card perk. Because you’re eligible for instant discounts when you book through the Citi ThankYou® Travel Center. In the past, you could only get the 4th night credit by making a hotel reservation through the Citi Concierge.
I’ll share how the Citi Prestige can be your secret tool to saving on hotels!

The 4th night free perk with Citi Prestige is an incredible deal. And it’s easy to use.
There are 3 ways to book eligible 4th night free reservations:
- Log-in and book through the Citi ThankYou® Travel Center
- Call Citi Concierge at 561-922-0158
- Email your reservation request to concierge@yourconciergecenter.com
When you book online, you can pay with your Citi Prestige card, Citi ThankYou points, or use both. And your 4th night credit applies automatically at the time of checkout.
Keep in mind, there’s a limited selection of hotels when you book online. If you don’t see the hotel you’re looking for, I recommend calling the Citi Concierge.
When you book through the Citi Concierge, you’ll have to pay for your entire stay with your Citi Prestige card. Then, you’ll see a statement credit for the 4th night savings.
Team member Keith typically sends his reservation request to the Citi Concierge through email. And he’s never had any issues getting a statement credit. It usually posts within 1 week after paying for a hotel stay. Since getting the Citi Prestige card, he’s saved more than $2,800 with this benefit!
Keep in mind, the savings you get for the 4th night is based on the average cost of a 4-night stay, NOT including taxes.
Here’s a sample cost breakdown for a 4-night stay, without taxes:
- $100 base rate + $10 taxes & fees for night 1
- $100 base rate + $10 taxes & fees for night 2
- $200 base rate + $20 taxes & fees for night 3
- $200 base rate + $20 taxes & fees for night 4
In this example you can expect a statement credit for $150, which is the average of the base rates for the 4 nights ($600 total / 4 nights).
Don’t forget, you can apply AARP, AAA, and military discounts to 4th night free stays with Citi. And remember Citi can NOT match prices you find on other online travel agencies like Orbitz or Expedia. But they CAN match the price offered directly from the hotel. So, if you see a higher price than what’s displayed on the hotel’s website, tell them the exact price you see.
Note: You’ll earn hotel points, stay credits, and get elite status perks for 4th night free bookings made through the Citi Concierge. So you don’t have to miss out on hotel lounge access or late check-out!But if you book online, hotels consider it a 3rd-party booking, and you won’t earn points or stay credit! And you might not have your elite status recognized. Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin experienced this firsthand on a recent IHG stay she booked through the Citi Travel Portal. 🙁
So I recommend booking through the Citi Concierge whenever possible.
Limited Time 75,000-Point Citi Prestige Offer
When you open the Citi Prestige card, you’ll earn 75,000 Citi ThankYou points after you spend $7,500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is the highest public offer I’ve seen for this card! But it’s only available for a limited time.
If you can meet the minimum spending requirements, you’ll unlock a lucrative sign-up bonus. Because the points from the sign-up bonus AND minimum spending are worth at least $1,000 when you book airfare through the Citi travel portal. And potentially much more when you transfer the flexible points to transfer partners like Flying Blue or Singapore Airlines.
With the Citi Prestige, you’ll also get:
- 3 Citi ThankYou points per $1 you spend at airlines, hotels, and travel agencies
- 2 Citi ThankYou points per $1 you spend at restaurants and select entertainment (includes movie theaters, amusement parks, tourist attractions)
- $250 annual statement credit for airline fees such as airfare and baggage fees appearing on your statement from December to the following December
- $100 statement credit for Global Entry application fee
- Priority Pass Select membership
- No foreign transaction fees
The card has a $450 annual fee, which is NOT waived the first year. But the annual credit for airfare purchases, Global Entry credit, and airport lounge access can more than offset the annual fee!
Note: Because of Citi’s sign-up bonus rule, you’re not eligible to earn the sign-up bonus on this card if you have had a Citi ThankYou Preferred, Citi Premier Card, or Citi Prestige card opened OR closed in the past 24 months. Keep in mind, folks say product changing any of these cards counts as closing your account.Bottom Line
Folks who take advantage of the 4th night free perk with the Citi Prestige card can potentially save thousands of dollars on paid hotel stays.
I like that this benefit is easy to use. You can book your hotel stay through Citi travel portal or by contacting Citi Concierge. Then, you’ll enjoy savings based on the average cost of your 4-night stay (excluding taxes).
Keep in mind, you won’t earn hotel points or stay credits if you book online through the Citi travel portal, because hotels consider it a 3rd-party booking. But you will if you book directly with the Citi Concierge.
Now’s a great time to consider the Citi Prestige card because you’ll earn 75,000 Citi ThankYou points after you spend $7,500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is the highest public offer I’ve seen for this card!
Do you have the Citi Prestige? I’d love to hear how much you’ve saved with the 4th night free perk!
