Rare is the day that Hilton is not running some kind of bonus points promotion. You can find the latest deals on the Hilton promotion page, although the only noteworthy being Hilton’s “Double Rewards Promotion.” But be sure to check this post regularly, as we’ll update it with the latest Hilton promos. I’ll outline this deal, and show you how to maximize it by using the best Hilton credit cards.

Double Rewards Promotion

When you register for Hilton’s Double Rewards Promotion, you’ll earn twice the normal amount of base Hilton points you’d normally earn for your stay. For example, most Hilton hotels will give you 10 points per dollar when reserving a room. With this promotion, you’d earn 20 points per dollar.

We estimate Hilton points value to be about 0.5 cents each. Earning an extra 10 points with this promotion means you’d be receiving an extra 5 cents per dollar in value at Hilton hotels. This is in addition to any bonus points you’ll earn from Hilton elite status or by paying with a Hilton credit card.

This promotion will also give you double the elite night credits, meaning it’s twice as easy to reach Hilton elite status. Plus, all elite night credits you earn this year will transfer into 2021. Now’s the time to rack up your nights!

As long as your stay is completed during the promotion period (from Sept. 8 through Dec. 31), you will receive both of these bonuses — even if you checked-in before the promotion period.

How to earn Hilton points

Earning Hilton points is perhaps the easiest feat in the miles and points hobby. Hilton gives their points away like hotcakes. Here are the fastest ways to earn:

  • Earn the welcome bonus on any (or all!) of the best Hilton credit cards, such as the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card, which comes with 130,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $2,000 in eligible purchases within the first 3 months of card membership. You’ll also earn points for everyday purchases made with your Hilton card.
  • Stay at Hilton hotels. You’ll earn points as a regular member, plus a bonus for having elite status.
  • Pay with a Hilton credit card, since they earn bonus points on Hilton purchases (most Hilton credit cards come with elite status, which gives you a 20% to 100% bonus on base points).
  • Transfer Amex points to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio (we usually don’t recommend doing this).
  • Link your Hilton account with Lyft to earn 3 Hilton points per dollar when using Lyft.
  • Link a credit card to the Hilton dining program to earn bonus points for eating at select restaurants.

How to maximize Hilton promotions

To maximize Hilton promotions, be sure you’re using a Hilton credit card to pay for your stays. As mentioned above, you can get a TON of Hilton points for your Hilton spending with the right card.

For example, the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card gives you 14 points per dollar on eligible purchases with Hilton. It also comes with top-tier Diamond elite status, which gives you a 100% bonus on base points. In other words, a $200 stay with Hilton would earn you:

  • 10 base points per dollar you’d regularly earn
  • 10 more points per dollar for having Diamond elite status
  • 14 bonus for using your Amex Hilton Aspire

That’s 34 points per dollar. And if you stay during the Double Rewards Promotion, you can add another 10 points per dollar to that figure. Because we estimate Hilton points are worth 0.5 cents each on average, earning 44 points per dollar is like getting a whopping 22% back on your stay!

Alternatively, you can use another travel credit card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or American Express® Green Card to earn bonus Chase points or Amex points for your travel purchases.
