If you’ve been considering applying for the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card, now is the time!

It has an all-time high sign-up bonus of up to 120,000 IHG points after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements.  I have the old Chase IHG Select credit card (no longer available to new applicants) and I’ve been considering applying for this new version.  So I’m excited to see this offer.

You can use IHG points to stay at fancy Intercontinental Hotels & the IHG Premier card has never had a better offer

Highest Ever Bonus for the Chase IHG Premier Card

You can apply for the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card here

You can earn up to 120,000 bonus IHG points with the Chase IHG Premier credit card.

You’ll get 80,000 points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And you’ll earn an additional 40,000 bonus IHG points after spending another $3,000 on purchases ($5,000 in total) within the first 6 months of account opening.

The card also comes with perks like:

  • 10 IHG points per $1 spent at IHG hotels
  • 2 IHG points per $1 spent at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants
  • 1 IHG point per $1 on everything else
  • Automatic Platinum status as long as you have the card (50% bonus points on IHG purchases, late check-out & upgrades when they’re available)
  • TSA PreCheck or Global Entry fee reimbursement up to $100 every 4 years
  • 20% discount on IHG points purchases
  • 10,000 bonus IHG points after spending $20,000 on purchases and making 1 additional purchase in an account anniversary year
  • No foreign transaction fees

The card has an $89 annual fee.  And each year on your card anniversary, you’ll get a free night reward valid at IHG hotels costing up to 40,000 points per night.  Plus, the card comes with a 4th-night free benefit, which means when you book reward night stays (in a standard room) of 4+ nights the 4th night is free.

This perk can be used an unlimited number of times, but it only applies to the 4th night of the stay.  So if you book 8 nights, you’ll still only get 1 of them for free.  This perk doesn’t apply to cash or points + cash stays, and it’s a discount, not a rebate.  That means you only need enough points to book 3 free nights in order to use the benefit.

My Thoughts

I’m considering applying for this card because I’m interested in the 4th-night free benefit.  I have the old IHG Select card (no longer available to new applicants), which comes with a 10% points rebate (up to 100,000 points per year).  I like the idea of being able to combine these perks to book super cheap award stays.

One thing to be aware of is that IHG is going to implement variable points pricing at some point in 2019.  We don’t know the details of what that will look like, but I’m expecting the most expensive IHG hotels to be hit the hardest.  So if you’re looking to use your IHG points during peak season, at luxury properties, or at popular destinations, then I would use them sooner rather than later.

This card is restricted by the Chase 5/24 rule.  So you won’t be eligible for it if you’ve opened 5+ cards with any bank in the past 24 months (not including certain business cards).  And keep in mind that applying for this card will add to your Chase 5/24 count, so you could be missing opportunities to apply for Chase’s other great hotel cards, like The World Of Hyatt Credit Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card.

So you’ll want to consider any potential trade-off for applying for one card over another.

There is a better offer out there with a $50 statement credit if you search for it.

Definitely NOT subject to 5/24.

Any idea how long this will be available?

As always, Chase screws over the referral people by not matching the offer on the referrals.
