You have to fly non-stop flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  And you can’t fly on November 25, 2014, to November 26, 2014.

But Is It Worth it?

You might pay less for your ticket, but Frontier charges fees for:

  • $15 to $25 1st checked bag fee ($15 for Frontier Discount Den members, $20 online, $25 at the airport)
  • $30 2nd checked bag fee
  • $3 to $15 seat assignment fee
  • $50 transfer fee
  • $75 change fee (plus fare increase)
  • $25 for a carry-on bag at time of purchase

For folks who don’t check bags, don’t care where they sit, or won’t be changing their flights, this could be a good deal.  But you should do what makes sense for you.

Emily and I are passing on this sale because we have the Southwest Companion Pass and often check bags.

Are Other Airlines Matching the Sale?

If you don’t fly Frontier, other airlines are matching this sale.

On Kayak a flight from Chicago to Cleveland on American Airlines is $39.

I flew Frontier to the Chicago Seminars this year. At the time, no one was matching. It isn’t a bad experience, as long as your expectations are set properly. Even with a carry on and a guaranteed aisle seat, the fare was $62 one way on a Thursday evening. At that price, I don’t mind paying for a drink. I used a credit from the Arrival card to cover the base fare. Further, I’d rather not spend Rapid Rewards when I’m traveling solo since they are worth twice as much when my wife and I travel together– especially when SW does not fly to ORD !
