The long wait is over – Southwest has begun selling flights to Hawaii!  And these are the lowest prices I’ve ever seen to this ever-popular destination.

At the moment, you can purchase your tickets for flights taking off as early as March 17, 2019!  And non-stop flights from the West Coast are as low as $49 one-way, or less than 2,000 Southwest points.

They’re flying from Oakland and San Jose right now, but they’ll hopefully be adding more routes soon.  To be notified when they do, subscribe to our newsletter.

The Long Wait Is Over!  Southwest Is Flying to Hawaii!

Purchase Southwest Flights to Hawaii Right Now!

Right now you can only purchase non-stop flights for these routes:

  • Oakland to Kahului (OGG) for flights starting April 7, 2019
  • Oakland to Honolulu for flights starting March 17, 2019
  • San Jose to Kahului (OGG) for flights starting May 26, 2019
  • San Jose to Honolulu for flights starting May 5, 2019

Southwest also has inter-island flights for sale from Honolulu to:

  • Kona (KOA) for flights starting May 12, 2019
  • Kahului (OGG) for flights starting April 28, 2019

Southwest will be adding flights from Sacramento and San Diego to Hawaii.  And they also have plans to fly to Lihue (LIH).

If you’re fresh out of Southwest points, remember you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points or Marriott points to Southwest.  But some of these flights are so cheap, it can even make sense to pay cash because you’ll get a flight and earn Southwest points at the same time.

To book these deals, head on over the Southwest website.

Right now you can book flights through early October 2019.  If you want to know when Southwest starts selling more flights to Hawaii, subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on Twitter.

And don’t forget, you can stock-up on Southwest points with these cards:

I looked at a lot of dates and I couldn’t find flights like this anywhere! It was a big waste of time. The one way flights are $399 on ave. Maybe you could give examples of the 49 flights next time. ” And non-stop flights from the West Coast are as low as $49 one-way, or less than 2,000 Southwest points.”

Do you think Southwest will cancel all the Hawaii flights since they use the Boeing 737-Max 8 which is having issue such as the Ethiopian Airways which crashed on Sunday 3/10?

Hi Mo,

The latest news I read is that they are still going to fly the 737 max.

Personally, I would be a bit nervous flying on that plane, at least until more information about the recent crash is released.

Do we have any idea when they will be announcing flight to LIH? Looking to go end of Aug and wondering if I should just book to Maui now to be safe.

No idea on when they’ll start selling tickets or when the flights will launch. Since there isn’t a cancellation fee I would book Maui now to be safe.

9:15 am departures from the islands to the mainland? Sorry, no. You need to revisit your scheduling, LUV…

Still think it’s super weird they have flights from San Diego but not LAX. I feel like you should be able to fly LAX to anywhere. 🙁

I read an article that said they will eventually fly to/from LAX.

Thanks Keola, that’s good to know! = )

Agreed, it’s so weird! I’ve always thought of LAX as the travel hub for almost everything in Southern California.

Maybe they’ll add it at some point in the future!
