Late last year Hyatt announced a partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), which is a collection of 500+ independent upscale hotels. This is great news because it allows you to earn and use Hyatt points at some amazing places! Plus, you’ll get certain perks just for being a World of Hyatt member.
There are already 54 SLH locations partnering with Hyatt and, as of today, 56 more have joined the fold. Hyatt points are already the best hotel points to earn for free nights, but the biggest drawback is Hyatt has far fewer locations than the other major hotel chains. So adding 110 new options for using your Hyatt points is a massive plus!
We’ll take a look at this list and have more in-depth analysis coming soon, so subscribe to our newsletter to get those articles and to be alerted when more hotels are added.
But at first glance, these new additions are in places many folks want to visit such as Thailand, the Bordeaux region of France, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, and Copenhagen’s #1 rated hotel by TripAdvisor, The Nimb in Tivoli Gardens.
Use Hyatt Points at 56 More Luxury Hotels!
Perhaps the best part of this partnership is that you don’t need any Hyatt elite status to get these perks at the partner SLH locations:
- Free Wi-Fi
- Daily free continental breakfast for 2 guests
- 1 category room upgrade (at check-in if available)
- Early check-in (noon, based upon availability at check-in)
- Late check-out (2:00 pm, based upon availability at check-in)
The free breakfast benefit is great considering that you can have top-tier elite status with IHG and still not get that perk.
You’ll also be able to earn Hyatt points for your paid stays, you’ll get:
- 5 Hyatt points per $1 spent on eligible purchases
- Qualifying nights at SLH hotels will count toward earning World of Hyatt elite-tier status
- Members with Hyatt elite status will receive their bonus points for eligible purchases
When this partnership began last year, Hyatt added a new Category 8 to their award chart (40,000 points per night). This category was created to accommodate some of the more spectacular SLH properties that can cost $1,400+ a night! But most of the SLH partner hotels won’t fall into that top-tier category. And Hyatt has said that they don’t have any plans to move Hyatt branded hotels to Category 8 – let’s hope it stays that way.
You can browse the SLH partner locations here.
If you’re interested in staying at any of these hotels with points you could open the World of Hyatt Credit Card, which currently comes with a 60,000 Hyatt-point bonus after meeting the card’s tiered minimum spending requirements. Or you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio if you have one of these cards:
- Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
