Are you planning paid IHG stays this winter?

IHG is back again with another winter promotion and sweepstakes.  But it’s NOT nearly as generous as last year’s deal.

With IHG’s new Priceless Experiences promotion, MasterCard cardholders can earn up to a $100 MasterCard gift card after completing 2 stays at IHG hotels between December 1, 2016, and February 15, 2017.

And there’s a sweepstakes to win prizes, including a weekend getaway in Chicago.

I’ll share the details, and help you decide if it’s worth shifting paid stays to IHG to participate in the deal!

To participate in IHG Priceless Experiences, you must be a MasterCard holder as of November 15, 2016 (yesterday).  And you must register for the promotion with your IHG Rewards Club number (free to join).

1.   Earn a MasterCard Gift Card

Once you’ve registered, stay at least twice at IHG hotels (one stay must be 2+ nights) between December 1, 2016, and February 15, 2017 and pay with a MasterCard.

IHG hotels include Candlewood SuitesCrowne Plaza, EVEN Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts, Hotel Indigo, HualuxeInterContinental Hotels & Resorts, and Staybridge Suites brand hotels.

If at Least 1 of Your 2 Stays Is at an InterContinental Hotel, Like the InterContinental Toronto, You’ll Earn a $100 Gift Card

After your second stay, you’ll earn a MasterCard gift card, but its value depends on which IHG hotels you stay at.  Here’s what you’ll earn if at least one of your stays is with the following brands:

If you have paid stays coming up at IHG hotels, it’s a no-brainer to register for the promotion.  I’d register anyway (it takes ~30 seconds), because you never know if you’ll plan a last-minute trip.

That said, I wouldn’t shift stays to IHG from other brands just to participate if you can get a better deal elsewhere.  Shop around to be sure you’re getting the best price even after you take the gift card into account.

Important terms:
  • To qualify for the promotion, you must book directly through IHG (and not 3rd-party websites like Orbitz)
  • After your 2nd stay, you’ll receive an email with a link to a redemption portal to redeem your MasterCard gift card
  • You must redeem your gift card by March 31, 2017
  • You’ll receive the gift card in the mail 6 to 8 weeks after you redeem
  • You can only earn ONE MasterCard gift card throughout the promotion, even if you have more than 2 stays

2.   Sweepstakes

The sweepstakes is divided into 11 entry periods.  You could win weekly prizes, like IHG points, stereo systems, cameras, and big-screen TVs.

And all entries are included in a grand prize drawing for 5 weekend getaways for 2 to Chicago.

Enter the Sweepstakes Without IHG Hotel Stays by Entering Daily Online Starting December 1, 2016

If you’ve registered for Priceless Experiences, you’ll earn a sweepstakes entry for each qualified night you stay at IHG hotels from December 1, 2016, to February 15, 2017.But you can still participate if you don’t have any IHG stays!  Starting December 1, 2016, you can enter once a day at the Priceless Experiences Sweepstakes website.  That’s an easier method than the dozens of index cards and envelopes y’all filled out last year to earn bonus points with IHG’s Priceless Surprises promotion.  But this year, prizes aren’t guaranteed.

Bottom Line

You could earn up to a $100 MasterCard gift card after 2 stays with IHG’s new Priceless Experiences promotion.  To participate, you must register for the promotion, be a MasterCard holder, and book with your MasterCard directly through IHG.

Travel dates are between December 1, 2016, and February 15, 2017.  If you have paid IHG stays coming up, this could be a nice little bonus.

You’ll also earn a sweepstakes entry for each paid night, to win prizes like IHG points, electronics, and a grand prize trip to Chicago.

But you can also enter for free online each day without any IHG stays!

Let me know if you win a prize!
