You can earn double or triple Southwest points on all newly booked Southwest flights through November 20, 2014.

Earn Double Or Triple Southwest Points
Did You Receive the Double or Triple Southwest Points Offer From Southwest?

You have to register by November 20, 2014, and book your flights on the Southwest website.

There are NO blackout dates or flight restrictions.  But you will NOT earn bonus Southwest points on tickets booked before the promotion started (September 18, 2014).

Although this is a targeted offer, some Million Mile Secrets readers who weren’t targeted, were able to register for the promotion.  But you can NOT register for both promotions.

How Many Southwest Points Can You Earn?

You’ll earn points based on the type of ticket you buy.

So if you registered for the double points offer, you will earn:

  • 12 Southwest points per $1 spent on Wanna Get Away tickets
  • 20 Southwest points per $1 spent on Anytime tickets
  • 24 Southwest points per $1 spent on Business Select tickets

With the triple points offer, you get:

  • 18 Southwest points per $1 spent on Wanna Get Away tickets
  • 30 Southwest points per $1 spent on Anytime tickets
  • 36 Southwest points per $1 spent on Business Select tickets
Earn Double Or Triple Southwest Points
You’ll Earn 18 Southwest Points on Wanna Get Away Tickets If You Register for the Triple Southwest Points Promotion

But the bonus Southwest points do NOT count toward:

Redeeming Southwest Points

You can redeem Southwest points on any Southwest or AirTran flight.  The number of Southwest points you have to redeem depends on the advertised price.  Wanna Get Away (the cheapest tickets) award flights cost 70 Southwest points per $1.  So 1 Southwest point is worth ~1.43 cents towards Wanna Get Away tickets.

But you can get a greater value out of your Southwest points during Southwest fare sales and if you have the Southwest Companion Pass.

Emily and I fly almost exclusively on Southwest for our domestic flights, but you can also fly on Southwest to the Caribbean and from March 7, 2015 to Costa Rica.

Bottom Line

You can earn double or triple Southwest points on any Southwest flight through November 20, 2014.

You’ll earn the bonus Southwest points when you book your flights on the Southwest website between September 18, 2014, and November 20, 2014.

And you have to register by November 20, 2014.

@darius: was just targeted for 7500 bonus points via the rapid rewards dining program. The terms are as follows, this appears to be a targeted offer:

Dine 10 times at any Rapid Rewards DiningSM restaurant, bar, or club before November 10, 2014 (and complete a post-dine survey for each within 30 days of dining) and you can earn a spectacular 7,500 Rapid Rewards® Bonus Points! Each individual dine has to be $40.00 including tax and tip.

@diane: yes you are correct. In addition it should be noted that you will not earn points/bonus points if you book another person, purchase early bird, etc. Points and bonus points will only accrue on your ticket.

With that said, this month I will be at Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights with my son. I have the companion pass for him (thanks Darius!), but if I didnt I would have used points since the only way he could accrue points is to have his own southwest account which I don’t think a minor can have (shrugs).

In short Diane, you can make a killing on points using a mix of options. Triple points for the flight, booking your room on rocket miles and designating southwest as ur preference, using the southwest credit card. Personally, I will accrue 25k miles this trip alone using rocketmiles, 3x points, and credit card so all in all its a pretty decent offer, and way to boost ur points account.

Hi,

I am new to this and continually learning! But, if I book with my Southwest points, I am assuming I will not be able to get points? I can only get points if I pay cash. Is this correct?

Thanks!

diane

Sorry for leaving this as a comment on another post (didn’t see where I could email this to you). Also, for those not targeted for this offer I suggest calling southwest rapid rewards. I was targeted for the triple miles offer, and my girlfriend received nothing. However, after she called they put her in for double miles. Hope this helps.

Didn’t work for me.
