Is It Worth Booking Through Rocketmiles?
I’ve written that booking through Rocketmiles can sometimes be worth it if you can find a cheap hotel rate in the destination you want. Their selection is limited in some cities, but you can usually find both chain and independent hotels.
Their prices are usually (but not always) similar to other online travel agencies, like Orbitz and TravelPony. And it might be worth paying a few more dollars for a lot of extra miles.
Like bookings with other discount travel sites, you won’t usually earn hotel points on Rocketmiles stays. And don’t count on getting elite status perks.
But folks who are trying to get the Southwest Companion Pass should consider earning Southwest points through Rocketmiles, because the points DO count (except for bonus points, like the recent 3,000 point offer).
As always, shop around before you book to make sure you’re getting the best deal! And double-check the cancellation policy, because it varies depending on hotel.
When you book, use a card that earns extra points for travel, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
Bottom Line
First-time customers will earn double airline miles or points through the Rocketmiles 24-hour flash sale. Book by 8:59 am Eastern Time tomorrow, January 23, 2015.
You can earn miles from your choice of 23 airlines. But remember to shop around before you book, because Rocketmiles’ prices can sometimes be more expensive than other discount hotel sites.
And always check the cancellation policy!
Let me know if you find a good deal with this sale!
