The Southwest Companion Pass Is Back On The Table With These Increased Bonuses

You Could Be Relaxing in Cancun With a Friend in No Time With the Southwest Companion Pass

Today there are some great deals for folks with Delta miles and Citi ThankYou points.

1.   Delta Award Sale Starting at 12,000 Miles Round-Trip to the Caribbean, Mexico, and More!

Until July 11, 2018, you can book discounted Delta awards to lots of great destinations!  The deals are for coach seats for travel from September 7 to October 15, 2018.  Although some of the deals are actually available outside of those dates.

Getting to Cancun With Delta Miles Doesn’t Get Much Cheaper Than This!

You can book cheap award flights from:

You can check out all of the discounted awards here.

2.   Citi ThankYou 30% Transfer Bonus to Flying Blue!

Through August 29, 2018, you’ll get a 30% bonus on Citi ThankYou points transfers to Flying Blue!  Normally, Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to Flying Blue.  But with this promotion, you’ll now get 1,300 Flying Blue miles for every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points you transfer!

When you combine this deal with the current Flying Blue Promo Awards you can book some great deals!  The current Promo Awards include 50% off coach flights to Europe from Washington DC and Houston, starting at 21,500 Flying Blue miles one-way!  To book those flights you’d only need to transfer 17,000 Citi ThankYou points (17,000 Citi ThankYou points + 30% bonus)!

Cross Tahiti Off the Bucket List With This Great Transfer Bonus!

And even awards that aren’t discounted can be a steal.  Flying Blue awards on Air France from Los Angeles to Tahiti are normally 25,500 Flying Blue miles one-way in coach.  But with this promotion, you’d only need to transfer 20,000 Citi ThankYou points for the same flight (20,000 Citi ThankYou points + 30% bonus)!

Flying Blue no longer has a traditional award chart, which has been replaced by an award calculator.  So you’ll have to look for prices by route.  And keep in mind, the award calculator will only show you the low-level award price.  But in reality, the actual price you’ll end up paying could be much higher if the cheapest awards are sold out.

3.   Barclays Arrival Premier Card Gets Some Updates

Earlier this year, Barclays got into the transferable points world with the introduction of the Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard®.

But it’s generally not a great choice if you’re looking to earn flexible points, because the transfer ratios aren’t that great (between 1.4:1 and 1.7:1, depending on the partner).  And it currently does NOT have a sign-up bonus.

However, Barclays is making some improvements to the card.  For starters, the $150 annual fee is now waived the first year.  So you can try out the card and take advantage of the card’s Global Entry credit for free.

And by the end of July 2018, the card will have 2 new transfer partners: Alitalia and Finnair.  These don’t seem like particularly useful partners (that I know of), but it’s a step in the right direction.

4.   Free Museums This Weekend for Bank of America Cardholders!

The first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders get free access to select museums across the US!  Only the primary cardholder gets in free, and you’ll still have to pay for special exhibits.

My parents are visiting me in Chicago this weekend, and I told them to bring the Bank of America Amtrak cards they got for their train trip this fall.  We’ll probably visit the Tacos y Tamales Festival and try to squeeze in a stop at the Shedd Aquarium on Sunday.

You can see what museums you’ll have access to here.
