I recently wrote about the rumored Chase card with a 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards point sign-up bonus that’s expected to have perks similar to the AMEX Platinum and Citi Prestige cards.
And now, via Doctor of Credit, we know more about the new Chase Sapphire Reserve card!
Here’s the new information!
The New Chase Sapphire Reserve Card
Folks have been speculating about the perks of the new Chase Sapphire Reserve card. And now multiple sources say it will be available August 21, 2016, with a 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards point sign-up bonus after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
You’ll also get:
- 3X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel & dining
- 1X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on everything else
- $300 annual credit for travel purchases
- $75 fee for an authorized user
- Up to $100 statement credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
- No foreign transaction fees
- Complimentary lounge access
- Visa Infinite
The card will have a $450 annual fee that is NOT waived the first year. But the sign-up bonus, Global Entry or TSA PreCheck statement credit, and $300 annual credit for travel purchases, will make this card worth it for lots of folks.
And just like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Plus, you’ll be able to transfer the Chase Ultimate Rewards points you earn with the Chase Sapphire Reserve to lots of great travel partners at a 1:1 ratio.
Plus, you’ll get even more from your Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you redeem them through Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal.Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 1.25 cents per point when used for travel on Chase’s travel portal if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold (no longer available).
But the points from the Chase Sapphire Reserve will be worth 1.5 cents per point! Meaning the sign-up bonus alone is worth $1,500 when used on travel purchases through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal!
That’s great for folks who prefer the simplicity of booking on nearly any airline without blackout dates, while earning airline miles at the same time.Note: It’s not known if the Chase Sapphire Reserve will be included under Chase’s tighter application rules. That is, if you’ve applied for ~5+ cards from any bank (except these business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for most Chase cards.
This is all very exciting news. And we’ll keep you updated as we learn more!
With all of these great perks, do you plan on getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve?
