Good news for folks who collect American Airlines miles!

Via View From the Wing and Mommy Points, both Barclaycard and Citibank will be issuers of American Airlines credit cards by January 2017.  So we’ll have more ways to earn American Airlines miles!

Coming January 2017 More Ways To Earn American Airlines Miles
You Can Use American Airlines Miles for a Trip to Europe and Beyond! It’s Great News That 2 Banks Will Be Offering American Airlines Credit Cards. Because You’ll Have More Opportunities to Earn Miles!

Two Banks to Issue Co-Branded American Airlines Cards

In the past, Citibank issued all of the co-branded American Airlines credit cards, like the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® and the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ Mastercard® cards.

And old US Airways Barclaycards were converted to American Airlines cards after the merger between US Airways and American Airlines.  But Barclaycard didn’t accept new applications for their American Airlines cards.

Soon though, both banks will offer co-branded American Airlines cards!

Barclaycard will offer American Airlines cards to folks in the airport and on American Airlines operated flights starting in January 2017.

And Citibank will continue to offer their co-branded American Airlines cards online and in Admirals Club lounges.

This is great news.  Because folks like you and me can often benefit when there’s a little healthy competition between banks. 😉
