Different Offer for CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select
This CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select offer will earn you 50,000 American Airlines miles after spending $2,500 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. And up to $200 in statement credits for eligible American Airlines purchases within the first 12 months.
The card also comes with:
- 2X American Airlines miles on American Airlines purchases, telecommunications, car rental merchants, and at gas stations
- 1X American Airlines miles everywhere else
- 1 free checked bag for you and up to 4 companions traveling on the same reservation on domestic American Airlines itineraries
- Preferred boarding on American Airlines domestic flights
- NO foreign transaction fees
The $95 annual fee is waived the first year.
Is This a Good Deal?
The original public offer for this card is currently 70,000 American Airlines miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 4 months. So with this new offer, you’re trading 20,000 American Airlines miles for $200.
That’s like cashing in 20,000 American Airlines miles at 1 cent each (20,000 American Airlines miles / $200 statement credit).
If you can meet the $4,000 spending requirement, I recommend applying for the original offer of 70,000 American Airlines miles. Because it’s not difficult to get a value greater than 1 cent each from your American Airlines miles!
For example, you can fly from Dallas to Tokyo round-trip in coach for 65,000 American Airlines miles. That same ticket could easily cost $1,400+. That’s a value of ~2.1 cents per mile ($1,400 / 65,000 miles).
However, with a $200 statement credit offer, you won’t need to worry about finding saver level award seats. You can simply buy any American Airlines ticket you like, and you’ll receive $200 off your flight.
That might appeal to some folks, but I’d much rather have the higher 70,000 mile offer!
You can now apply for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select and earn 50,000 American Airlines miles after spending $2,500 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. And up to $200 in statement credits for eligible American Airlines purchases within the first 12 months.
This is an alternate bonus from the original public offer of 70,000 American Airlines miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 4 months. Both offers have waived $95 annual fees the first year.
I’ll take 20,000 extra American Airlines miles over a $200 statement credit any day! But your situation might be different.
We don’t earn a commission for either of these offers, but we’ll always tell you about new deals!
