Via View From the Wing, Chase will remove the option to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak.

December 7, 2015, will be the last day to make the transfer.

Remember, you’re allowed to move your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak (and other partners like United Airlines, Southwest, and Hyatt) when you have 1 of these cards: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold.

If You Want to Use Your Points for Travel on Amtrak, Transfer Them Soon!

Amtrak is changing to a revenue-based program on January 24, 2016, but you can still get good deals on train travel.

Bank of America recently introduced 2 new Amtrak credit cards, so it looks like Amtrak is ending their partnership with Chase.

This is disappointing because it means folks will have fewer ways to redeem their Chase Ultimate Rewards points in a couple of months.  That said, last year Chase added Singapore Airlines.  So if this is a swap of sorts, many folks would make that trade.

There are always changes in our hobby, so when you see a good deal, go for it!  Because we never know when it might end.

Hopefully, Chase will add another new travel transfer partner to replace Amtrak!

Book These Awards While You Still Can!

If you want to plan a trip on Amtrak with its current zoned-based award chart, be sure to book it before January 24, 2016.  And if you want to use Chase Ultimate Rewards points, we now know you’ll have until December 7, 2015, to transfer your points.

Award Pricing Based on the Number of Zones You Cross Will Go Away on January 24, 2016. And Roomette and Sleeper Awards Will Cost Many More Points!

Here’s how many points you’ll need:

Bottom Line

Amtrak has lots of changes coming up!  Starting January 24, 2016, they’re changing to a revenue-based program that will be better for some.  And recently Amtrak came out with 2 new credit cards.

And now we’ve learned that December 7, 2015, will be the last day to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak.

You can still get good deals even after all the changes, so if you like to travel on Amtrak, it might be worth transferring some of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points within the next couple of months.
