Sound the alarms! Chase has just issued its first Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer bonus. With it, you can earn a 30% bonus for transfers to British Airways Avios points.

If you’re short on Chase Ultimate Rewards points and want to maximize the transfer bonus, it may be time to pick up another Chase card or two. Some of our top recommendations are the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

Although Amex has been offering transfer bonuses like this for what seems like forever, we’ve never seen any from Chase. To me, this is incredibly exciting news! And I hope it means we’ll see more transfer bonuses like this in the future.

I already love earning and redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards points from cards like the Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card, so a transfer bonus like this is just icing on the cake.

Here’s what you need to know.

One of the sweet spots in British Airways’ award chart is the ability to fly from 7 US cities to Ireland for only 26,000 British Airways Avios points round-trip

Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Transfer Bonus

Through June 16, 2019, you’ll get a 30% bonus when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways Avios points. The standard transfer ratio is 1:1 (in 1,000-point increments) so with this bonus, you’ll get 1,300 British Airways Avios points for every 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points you transfer.

It’s worth noting that the bonus is being processed by British Airways, not on Chase’s side, so you’ll only see the bonus Avios points once you’re signed into your British Airways account. Luckily, Ultimate Rewards points transfers to British Airways Avios points are instant. And you can take advantage of the transfer bonus as many times as you’d like before the offer’s expiration date.

Is This a Good Deal?

Absolutely! One of my favorite uses for British Airways Avios points is to fly between my hometown of Missoula, Montana, to Seattle for just 7,500 Avios points one-way. With a 30% bonus, I’d only need to transfer 6,000 Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways Avios points to have enough for a free flight.

British Airways charges 7,500 Avios points for flights in the US that are 1,151 miles or less.  So you’ll be paying fewer British Airways Avios points (compared to using American Airlines or Alaska Airlines miles) for flights between 500 and 1,151 miles. It’s just one of the sweet spots in British Airways’ distance-based award chart.

Another great use of British Airways Avios points is to fly to Ireland from 7 US cities for just 26,000 Avios points round-trip during the off-peak season. That’s less than half the number of miles you’d need with other airlines! And with this bonus, you’d only need to transfer 20,000 points to book a flight. This guide shows you how to transfer points from British Airways to Aer Lingus.

Is there a chart on BA that shows how many miles it is from point A to point B?

How do you find BA flights from Missula to SEA? We are near BZN but when I search BA they just say neither they nor partners fly that route. Step by step how do you do it? thanks

How much would the fuel surcharge be on this flight to Ireland?

Have they added any additional cities to the 7 original ones? I am in Rochester, NY.
