Raise the virtual champagne glasses, because my mom just got her very first points-earning Chase credit card!  She’ll now be able to earn tons of valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points, and I can hardly wait!  She recently got approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.  After meeting the minimum spending requirements, she’ll see 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points in her new account!

With the bonus earned from the Chase Sapphire Preferred, she can start getting lots of nearly free travel.  I’ll show you how in this post!  Plus, her approval came just in time to start stocking up on Christmas gifts and earn even more Chase points by using the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal!

My Mom Just Got Her First Chase Travel Credit Card – The Chase Sapphire Preferred!

What You Can Get With 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are extremely valuable, because you can transfer them to popular airlines like United Airlines and Southwest Airlines, AND use them towards hotels like Hyatt.  Transferring points is super easy, fast, and free!  I regularly transfer points and it’s my favorite way to use Chase Ultimate Rewards points!  The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a great starter credit card to have with Chase.  If she manages this card well, then she will be more likely to get approved for more Chase credit cards in the future, and Chase has some of the best travel credit cards available!

Stay up to 10 Nights at Select Hyatt Hotels

My mom can get 10 free nights at category 1 Hyatt hotels, which include many Hyatt House hotels and Hyatt Place hotels around the US.  Category 1 Hyatt hotels cost 5,000 points per night.  Since she’ll be earning 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, she can stay for up to 10 nights!  She’ll have to transfer her Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt, but it’s super fast and easy to do!

Take Up to Five 1-Way Flights on United

My mom can also use her new Chase Ultimate Rewards points for up to five 1-way Saver Award flights on United Airlines.  These cheap miles fares (which cost just 10,000 United miles!) are good for itineraries that are 700 miles or less.

Earn Even More Chase Points By Purchasing Stuff through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Shopping Portal

Now that my mom has a Chase credit card that she can use to earn points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal, she can earn even more Chase points!  She recently purchased contact lenses for me through the portal, which will earn us another ~1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points because we earned 5X points per $1 spent.  And this spending will help meet her minimum spending requirements needed to earn the sign-up bonus!
