I recently applied for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card.  I wanted this Chase credit card because the bonus points earned after meeting tiered minimum spending requirements count towards the Southwest Companion Pass, which is the #1 deal in travel!  The Southwest Companion Pass is my favorite airline deal because I save so much money.  In 2018 alone, my partner and I saved ~$8,500 in combined flight costs!  Here’s everything you need to know about earning the Southwest Companion Pass for your family!

The Dreaded Pending Message I Received After Applying for a Chase Credit Card

Immediately after applying, I received the message that “We need to review your request a little longer.”  I was NOT immediately approved.  I have good credit, I’m within Chase’s 5/24 rule, and I’m a long-time Chase customer.  So I wasn’t worried about getting denied.  But no one likes to see “Thank you for your request” message pop up.

This Is The Dreaded Pending Message I Received After Applying for a Chase Credit Card

Here’s How I Got Approved for This Chase Credit Card

I decided to wait a couple of days and then call Chase to get an update, and possibly offer to shift my credit limits.  For example, I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve® with a $50,000 credit limit.  I can request that Chase move ~$5,000 of the available credit to the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card so that I can be approved for the credit card.  In my experience, this has worked well for me before to help get me approved for more of the best travel credit cards!

A few days later, I logged into my Chase account, and saw my new Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card listed at the bottom of my accounts.

I Knew I Got Approved for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card When I Logged On and Saw It in My Account!

A few days later, I received a letter in the mail that they had moved some of my credit lines so that I could get approved for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card.  Done!  I love how Chase read my mind, because this was exactly what I would have asked them to do, and this saved me a phone call!

Was turned down for Capital One Savour!!! It’s almost like these folks don’t operate with a full deck. Have excellent credit and pay my bills on time every month. What more do they want??? Also, there is no reconsideration line. Just a stupid letter from them that makes no sense. Hard to believe these folks are in charge of handling large sums of money.

About 2 months ago, I applied for the Chase Freedom Unlimited as soon as I met the 5/24 criteria. Received the dreaded “pending” response. Then I waited for the rejection letter. However, about a week later, while reviewing activity in my other Chase accounts I noted a new account had been created. Chase unilaterally made an adjustment to some credit limits and I was good to go! Approved.

Nice! I love how easy Chase makes it! I don’t like having to make phone calls I don’t need to. Congratulations!

DP – Applied for SW business for my “business” on October 30th. Enter 2 years in business, $2k revenue, and my name for the business name. Called status line a couple hours after applying and received the 2 weeks message. Waited 24 hours and called back, received 7-10 days message. Never call recon line, waited till I got the letter in the mail. Letter received on November 6th asking for “proof of physical address for authorizing officer.” Sent a copy of my drivers license and an electric bill on November 7th via snail mail. Called automated line November 13th and received 2 week message, called back November 14th and had been approved. $5k CL.
