Good news! Via One Mile at a Time, through July 1, 2016, you can buy Starwood points for 30% off when you purchase 5,000 Starwood points or more!
This is a good deal for folks who need more Starwood points for a specific stay. Or if you need to top-off your account to transfer points to a Starwood airline transfer partners, like Delta, British Airways, or American Airlines!
Here’s how to decide if you’d like to part in this deal.
30% Off Starwood Points
Through July 1, 2016, you’ll get 30% off the purchase of 5,000 or more Starwood points.
Just log-in to your Starwood Preferred Guest account and the discount will be automatically applied. But your account must have been open for at least 14 days to participate in the promotion.
You can buy Starwood points in increments of 500 points. And purchase up to 30,000 Starwood points per account, per calendar year.
Purchased points do NOT count towards elite status. And Starwood recently changed their rules for transferring points between accounts.
Also, keep in mind the upcoming merger between Marriott and Starwood. And how it could affect your Starwood points going forward.
Is This a Good Deal?
If you need more Starwood points for an upcoming stay, this is a good deal.
Especially if you’re looking for an easy and fairly inexpensive way to earn more points without staying at Starwood hotels or spending on the personal or small business AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest card.
This is the best discount ever on Starwood points purchases for folks without an AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest card!
Need More Airline Miles?
Starwood points are also a great way to boost your frequent flyer account at Starwood partner airlines, like Delta, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. You’ll get 1.25 airline miles per Starwood point (for airlines with a 1:1 ratio) if you transfer points in increments of 20,000.
Say, for example, you want 5,000 more British Airways Avios points for a round-trip flight from the West Coast to Hawaii that costs 25,000 British Airways Avios points.
With this promotion, you can buy 5,000 Starwood points for ~$123 and transfer them directly to your British Airways Avios account at a 1:1 ratio.
The cash price for tickets from the West Coast to Hawaii can easily cost ~$550+. So buying Starwood points to top-off your frequent flyer account can save you hundreds of dollars!
That said, I always suggest doing the math for your particular situation to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
More Ways to Earn Starwood Points
Signing-up for either the personal or business version of the AMEX Starwood Preferred Guest card is another straightforward way to earn more Starwood points.
You can read more about these cards here.
Just remember, American Express only allows folks to get the sign-up bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime on ALL their cards. So if you’ve had either of these cards in the past, you will NOT be eligible for the bonus again.
Through July 1, 2016, you’ll get 30% off Starwood points when you buy 5,000 or more points.
This can be a good deal for folks who have a specific Starwood hotel stay in mind. Or for anyone needing more miles at one of Starwood’s many airline transfer partners, like British Airways, Delta, or American Airlines.
As always, you should do the math to determine whether it makes sense to purchase Starwood points for your individual situation!
Let me know if you’ll be taking advantage of this deal!
