Slickdeals reports that 2 popular cash back cards (especially for supermarket spending!) are offering additional statement credits.

You can now get a $25 statement credit as an additional sign-up bonus on the American Express Blue Cash Everyday card when you make a purchase within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

This is on top of the usual $100 statement credit you get after spending $1,000 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.

And with the American Express Blue Cash Preferred you’ll get a $50 statement credit when you make a purchase within the 1st 3 months, on top of the  $150 you get back after spending $1,000 in purchases with the 1st 3 months.

I don’t know how long these offers will last.

Cash back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit for which they charge a fee

So what is Target classified as?

What if we just do a lot of ms at Target? How much could we make then?

Or if we just go to Kroger and get a bunch of the Visa gift cards at the 6% rate then cancel the card after one year to avoid the annual fee? We can then use the cashback to pay for award fees and taxes.

I have severely reduced my AMEX spending with their “one bonus in a lifetime” rule. It’s true that some cardholders would meet the minimum spend and then not use the card. That’s clearly not profitable for the bank. But others may have used the card during that one year substantially. And AMEX loses their % of any of those juicy merchant fees as well finance charges in some cases. I predict an eventual change in policy closer to the 24 month rule CITI and CHASE now have in place.

Can I get this bonus if I had the old blue cash card before they split into blue cash and blue cash preferred?
