Do you hold an AMEX Hilton card like the Hilton Honors American Express or Hilton Honors American Express Ascend? If so, it’s worth checking to see if you’re targeted to earn bonus Hilton points for adding authorized users.
With this offer, you can earn 5,000 bonus Hilton points for adding an authorized user that meets a minimum spending requirement. And you can earn up to 20,000 bonus points total.
That’s enough for up to four nights at a Hilton category 1 hotel that costs 5,000 points per night. Or for a free night at a category 3 hotel that costs an average of 20,000 points per night.
Here are the details of this offer.
Earn Bonus Hilton Points for Adding Authorized Users
With this targeted offer, you can earn 5,000 bonus Hilton points for adding an authorized user to your account who spends $250 in eligible purchases within the first 3 months. You can earn a maximum of 20,000 bonus points (that’s 4 authorized user bonuses). The offer ends February 28, 2019.
You can search for an email with the subject line “<your name>, here’s an easy way to earn 5K Bonus Points” to see if you’re targeted. If you weren’t, it’s worth calling AMEX to see if they can add the offer to your account.
You don’t have to provide a social security number when initially adding an authorized user, but you’ll have to provide it within 60 days of opening the authorized user’s account or the bonus will be denied.
Being an authorized user won’t affect your ability to earn the welcome bonus on that particular card in the future, but AMEX authorized user accounts on personal AMEX cards WILL count towards your Chase 5/24 status. So the bonus points might not be worth it for some.
