Via The Points Guy, there’s an incredible targeted deal for The Platinum Card® from American Express.  You can see if you qualify for the offer through CardMatch. (Offer subject to change at anytime)

If you’re eligible, you’ll earn 100,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

Transfer 55,000 AMEX Membership Rewards Points to Singapore Airlines for a Round-Trip Flight to Europe

This is a great bonus!  Because the current public offer for the AMEX Platinum is 60,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after meeting the same minimum spending requirement.  So if you’ve never had the card before, it’s worth checking to see if you’re targeted.

There’s a targeted bonus on the AMEX Platinum card!  Lucky folks will earn 100,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.

In addition to the great welcome bonus, you’ll get:

  • 5X points per $1 spent on airline tickets purchased directly with airlines or with American Express Travel, and on hotels booked on the AMEX Travel Portal
  • Up to $200 in Uber credits annually
  • Up to $200 annual airline fee credit
  • $100 Global Entry credit
  • Airport lounge access
  • Terms apply

The $550 annual fee is NOT waived the first year (See Rates & Fees).  But you can easily offset it with the card’s perks!

Jump on This Deal If You Can Get It!

It is definitely worth checking to see if you qualify for this bonus!  AMEX only lets you earn the welcome bonus on each card once per lifetime.  And 100,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points matches the highest public offer ever for this card.

That’s a LOT of Big Travel!  AMEX Membership Rewards has plenty of transfer partners.  So you’ll have no shortage of ways to use your points.

For example, you can transfer 30,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points to Flying Blue (the frequent flyer program of Air France and KLM) for a round-trip ticket to Hawaii on Delta!

Or you could transfer the points to British Airways and book 22 short one-way flights (650 miles or less) around Europe! 🙂

Note:   You’ll pay an excise fee of 0.06 cents per point, to a maximum of $99, when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to US airlines, like Delta or JetBlue.

Bottom Line

It’s back!  Targeted folks can earn 100,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after opening the AMEX Platinum card and spending $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  This matches the highest public welcome bonus ever for the card!

If you are NOT targeted through CardMatch, the AMEX Platinum 60,000 point public offer is still a great deal.  But you should definitely use the CardMatch tool to make sure you don’t qualify for a higher bonus.  You won’t get a credit inquiry unless you apply for the card.

I hope lots of you are targeted for the offer!

How can I get more targeted offers? Do they come from when a person originally signed up for a card? I’m afraid I probably said ‘no’ to offers when I previously signed up for things. Where should I start in getting myself in the offers system?

If I have received Delta Skymiles bonus with the AMEX Skymiles Platinum card would I be disqualified from receiving the AMEX 100,000 Membership bonus points with AMEX platinum Card?

Million Mile Secrets

No, they are both considered different cards.

It would be awesome if amex would ONLY send these “targeted” offers to people who have NEVER held the respective card! Not very customer friendly to make me believe that I’m in for a great deal…only to find out, $5K later, that I held the card back in 1972 and am screwed…right???

Some reports that beyond card that are 7 years old, you might be fine (YMMV).
