Have The Platinum Card® from American Express card? Take note! It looks like the AMEX Platinum card will no longer offer Boingo Wi-Fi access as a benefit as of May 1, 2019.
Boingo is a worldwide high-speed Wi-Fi service that provides mobile internet service in public places like airports, coffee shops, and hotels. And while the service is free with certain credit cards, you’ll need to take the extra step of registering to use the perk.

Effective May 1, 2019, Boingo Preferred Plan will no longer be a benefit on the Platinum Card®. Card Members who are enrolled in Boingo Preferred Plan as of 4/30/2019, will continue to have access to this benefit until 12/31/2019.
We haven’t confirmed this with AMEX, but it looks to be a credible rumor. If you have the AMEX Platinum personal card, let us know if you have the same note on your most recent statement.
If you have a card that’s eligible for the Boingo membership, you’ll want to register for it by April 30. This step-by-step guide will show you how to register.
It’s always a bummer when a card benefit is removed. But the good news is that it doesn’t look like this change will effect The Business Platinum® Card from American Express. Both my mother and I have the card and there isn’t a note about the benefit going away on either of our most recent statements.
Personally, I don’t find this perk really valuable because many airports have free Wi-Fi anyway. Plus, you get lounge access with the AMEX Platinum cards and every lounge offers free internet.
That said, I would be upset if they took away the Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi passes benefit because I find those incredibly valuable! So pretty please, AMEX, don’t touch that perk.
