If you’re a foodie with The Platinum Card® from American Express, great news!  Rolling out by 2019, you’ll be able to book highly rated in-demand restaurants (including sold-out tables) within the AMEX app!

Access will begin in October 2018 for 2,000+ restaurants throughout London and the United Kingdom – with other locations, including the US, to follow into next year.

AMEX has long had access to special tables for cardholders, but you had to call to book a spot.  This new app addition will secure your spot with a few taps!

If you value culinary experiences at the world’s best restaurants, you know what a hassle it can be to reserve a table.  Hitherto, folks with an AMEX Platinum Card could call AMEX and ask them to set it up through their concierge service.

Soon, it will get even easier.  By 2019, AMEX will let Platinum cardmembers book their seats directly in the AMEX app.  This cool perk is rolling out in the United Kingdom (with 1,000+ restaurants in London alone) as early as next month!

Nobu Is Another London Restaurant AMEX Cardholders Can Book in Their App

Once released, you can find a restaurant and book within seconds – sometimes even in cases where the restaurant is “fully booked.”

That’s a huge change from having to call in, confirm your card information, tell the phone agent your dates and times, and wait for a confirmation.

It’s hard to put a value on this new perk, but it’s just another in a long list of benefits already available with the AMEX Platinum Card.

I’m assuming you’ll also have to use the card to pay for your meal, so no bonus points for dining.  But snagging a seat might be more than enough, especially if you’re celebrating a special event or treating yourself to a luxurious experience in a new (or favorite!) city.

Will you take advantage of booking a restaurant with the AMEX app?
