American Express just made an announcement that’s going to save my household a surprise $770 this year. How much will you save?

If you’ve got any of the best American Express cards, you likely qualify for one of these offers. My wife and I have five qualifying cards between the two of us, so we’ll manage to save quite a bit of money with this good news.

These are all Amex Offers that you’ll need to manually add to your card. It takes all of 10 seconds to add an Amex Offer. Read our guide on everything you need to know about Amex Offers for a step-by-step with screenshots. Eligibility for these offers is limited. Enrollment is required in the Amex Offers section of your account before redeeming.

New Amex credits mean potentially hundreds of dollars in savings

Travel isn’t nearly at pre-coronavirus levels, and American Express knows it. They’ve proactively tacked-on various monthly statement credits to many co-branded travel cards to keep them desirable during the travel lull. For every month in 2021, these cards will receive reimbursements for money spent at U.S. restaurants, U.S. wireless telephone expenses, and various other things. In other words, you’ll get 11 months of statement credits if you’ve got these cards. In many cases, this completely offsets the card annual fees!

Do note, however, that only those who were already cardholders as of Jan. 1, 2021, will qualify. Here’s what you’ll get with each card.

Statement credit at U.S. restaurants

You’ll get $20 back per month towards purchases at U.S. restaurants (a total of $220 in potential credits) if you have:

The information for the Hilton Aspire Amex card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

You’ll get $15 back per month at U.S. restaurants (a total of $165 in potential credits) if you have:

You’ll get $10 back per month at U.S. restaurants (a total of $110 in potential credits) if you have:

The information for the Hilton Surpass has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

You’ll get $5 back per month (a total of $55 in potential credits) if you have:

Remember that these deals need to be added to your card manually. You’ll want to log into your Amex account and scroll down to the section where it says Amex Offers. Under there, you’ll then want to click Add to Card. Once the offer has been added, you’ll then be able to redeem the credits through dining spend.

You’ll need to add the dining credit to your Amex card manually.

Statement credit for U.S. wireless telephone services

These credits appear exclusively on Amex small business cards. To trigger the reimbursement, you must use your card for “monthly wireless telephone service charges” directly made with a U.S. wireless telephone service provider.

Bonus miles and points

You’ll also want to check to see if you’re eligible for other miles and points spending bonuses via Amex Offers!

Marriott credit cards will find an offer of 7,500 bonus Marriott points after spending $7,500 on purchases by Dec. 31, 2021. You can achieve this bonus up to ten times — in other words, if you spend $75,000 on your card this year, you can earn up to 75,000 bonus points. Probably not the deal of a lifetime for many of us who don’t use Marriott cards for normal spending.

Similarly, Hilton credit cards receive 10,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases by June 30, 2021. You can earn this bonus up to ten times, as well.

Finally, eligible Amex Delta credit cards can now earn 5x Delta miles per dollar on spend with Delta through Dec. 31, 2021. Most Delta cards normally earn 2x miles with Delta, so this represents a bonus up to 3 miles per dollar.

Bottom line

Because of the above credits, four of my Amex credit cards have effectively no annual fee this year. In fact, I’ll be making money. If you were a cardholder before Jan. 1, 2021, for cobranded Delta, Marriott, or Hilton cards, you’ll be saving a whole lot of money this year at U.S. restaurants and with U.S. wireless providers. You may even earn bonus points by meeting certain spending thresholds.
