Are you an AMEX Business Gold Rewards cardholder?

Don’t forget, you only have through January 31, 2017, (a few more days!) to change your 3X bonus category. But new applicants will have 2 months after they become a cardmember to select their 3X bonus category.

Along with the improved 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards point sign-up bonus, the bonus category you choose can really make an impact on how many points you earn throughout the year.

If You Don’t Change Your 3X Bonus Category by January 31, 2017, Your Category Will Remain the Same as the Previous Year

You can earn 50,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening an AMEX Business Gold Rewards card.

You’ll also earn 3X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend in 1 of 5 categories you choose, including:

Airfare purchased directly from airlines
US purchases for advertising in select media
US purchases at gas stations
US purchases for shipping
US computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made directly from select providers

For the remaining 4 categories, you’ll earn 2X AMEX Membership Rewards points per $1 spent.

And because you can only change the bonus category each year between December 1 and January 31, you only have a few more days to make a switch!

You Can Select 1 of the 5 Categories to Earn 3X AMEX Membership Rewards Points

If you don’t change your election during the annual selection period (December 1 to January 31), your category will remain the same as the previous year.

For folks who don’t already have the card but are considering applying, you can select your 3X bonus category within the first 2 months of card membership. So you don’t have to stress about the January deadline. 😉

If you do not make a selection during the initial enrollment period, you will automatically receive 3X points on airfare purchased directly from airlines.

Current AMEX Business Gold Rewards cardholders have until January 31, 2017, to change their 3X bonus points category. But new cardholders will have 2 months after signing-up to choose their 3X bonus points category.
