INSIDER SECRET: You should still be able to get the restaurant credit if you use a Priority Pass airport lounge membership that you earned with cards issued by other banks, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, US Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card or Citi Prestige.
There’s bad news if you have a Priority Pass membership through an American Express card. Starting August 1, 2019, you will no longer receive “complimentary access to non-lounge airport experiences,” including a $28-$30 credit at select airport restaurants.
While the Priority Pass restaurant credit is a very valuable perk, only 27 airports worldwide have Priority Pass restaurants. When you consider that there are 1,200+ Priority Pass lounges this change will impact a small percentage of Priority Pass members — but those that are affected will miss the benefit greatly when it’s gone.
Amex Priority Pass Airport Lounge Membership Changes
The change will apply to Priority Pass memberships attached to American Express cards, including (enrollment required):
- The Platinum Card® from American Express
- Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express
- Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card
- The Business Platinum® Card from American Express
- Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card
The information for the Hilton Aspire card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
You will still have access to sleeper suites, which include Minute Suites.
If you are going to be negatively impacted by this change, then you may want to consider the Priority Pass membership that comes with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Citi Prestige. As of now, both memberships still include the credit for Priority Pass restaurants.
