Just in Time for the Holidays: 3 Free Months of Amazon Prime for American Express Cardholders (Targeted)

Signing up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Here’s our full Advertising Policy.

Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

As holiday shopping is now in full swing, it is likely you will find your way to Amazon at one point or another.  An Amazon Prime subscription is the best way to purchase things off Amazon because it offers free 2-day shipping on over 100 million items.  This makes last minute holiday shopping a breeze.

Normally an Amazon Prime subscription would cost $119 a year, but with this targeted offer from American Express you could try out Amazon Prime for FREE for 3 months!

Simple as that, just check your email to see if you were targeted for this offer.  Sign-up soon, because this deal ends December 31, 2018, or after a limited number of people redeem the offer.  And be sure to do your shopping using one of the best credit cards for Amazon purchases.

Thanks to American Express, You Can Get 3 Months of Free 2-Day Shipping on Most Amazon Purchases This Holiday Season

It looks like this offer is supposed to be targeted to new Prime members only, but some folks who have had a Prime membership in the past have had success getting signed-up.

One of the hidden benefits of being a Prime member is that you’re more likely to get targeted for great discounts like this deal to save up to $100 at Amazon with 1 AMEX Membership Rewards point, or this offer $15 Off a $60 Amazon purchase with a single Chase Ultimate Rewards point.

3 Free Months of Amazon Prime From American Express (Targeted)

End date:   December 31, 2018

Important terms & restrictions:

  • Only valid in the United States
  • Membership will automatically renew at $119 for an annual membership after the 3 months is up
  • Not refundable
  • Offer limited to one per customer and Amazon account
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers
  • This promotion ends either on December 31, 2018, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time or after a limited number of customers have redeemed the offer or whenever Amazon decides to end the offer

Good deal or not:   This is a great deal!  Amazon Prime normally costs ~$13 per month which means this offer is worth ~$39 with very few strings attached.  The only thing to watch out for is that your Amazon Prime subscription will automatically renew at $119 annually at the end of the 3 months.  So be sure to cancel before then if you don’t wish to continue using Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime offers a ton of great benefits that can easily justify its cost.  Here are some of my favorites:

  • Free 2-day shipping on over 100 million items
  • Instant access to stream popular movies and TV shows with Amazon Prime Video including exclusive series only found through Amazon
  • Access to Prime Reading List which offers free access to a rotating catalog of popular books that you can read on a Kindle device or Kindle apps on smartphones.
  • On-demand ad-free music streaming with Amazon Prime Music
  • Prime-exclusive brands and savings

Overall getting 3 free months of Amazon Prime is a great deal.  I would recommend signing-up right away if you were targeted for this offer since the number of total redemptions is limited.  You can see if you’re targeted here.  You’ll need to sign-in and have an AMEX card linked to your account.
