$200 in statement credits per calendar year… per calendar year… that’s your American Express credit card loophole to exploit!

all have calendar year perks.

Submit Your American Express Credit Card Application in Early December for the AMEX Platinum, Business Platinum, or Gold to Get an EXTRA Statement Credit!

Pay ONE Annual Fee on These American Express Credit Cards to Get TWO Calendar-Year Perks

These cards include up to $200 in statement credits ($100 for the Gold card) per calendar year on the airline you pick to cover expenses such as baggage fees, lounge day passes, in-flight food and drink, and so on.

The trick is simply to apply now, get your American Express credit card, and use that statement credit card perk in December 2018 and then again whenever you want in 2019.  So you’ll get 2 statement credits for the price of ONE annual fee.

Even if you decide to keep the AMEX Platinum personal or AMEX Platinum Business card long-term (which is a good idea, Meghan has kept her AMEX Business Platinum for example) you’ll be squeezing an extra $200 out of it.

Besides the Extra Statement Credit, Now’s a Good Time to Apply Anyhow

December is a popular time to apply for American Express credit cards and pretty much any credit card with a sizable minimum spending requirement.  Because most of us are about to be plunking down money to buy holiday gifts, plan a winter getaway, fork over cash on the New Year’s Eve celebration, and so on.

I’m seeing all those jewelry commercials now on TV too.  I can’t even imagine buying a diamond without that major purchase helping me unlock a big credit card intro bonus.

If you’re about to propose, hey, your engagement ring purchase should be earning you mega-points you can put toward your honeymoon travel!

The other benefit is 35% of points back on economy tickets of one preferred airline. If you get the card now you really have 2 airlines to choose. Let’s say you have a trip planned for next year – research the best flights, choose that airline and book the flight at 65% of points. Then in January switch your airline for 2019 and get that discount for the entire year for a different airline.

Can anyone tell me if purchasing a DiscountDen membership (a Frontier Airlines’ perk club) would be covered by the airline incidentals credit? I still have some of my $100 credit left on my AmEx Gold, but am not going to be traveling before the end of the year. I hate to let it go to waste!

Folks say that DOES work! You should be good!
