Scott: Just going to post one last time about the The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN because it’s truly special, and if you fit the criteria, you’ll kick yourself for not applying before it’s gone.
Because this card will elevate your entire travel experience from the security line to the airport to the flight itself — and there are premium hotel perks too.
This one is for you small business owners out there. Yes, you can apply with your social security number and you don’t need employees or a huge business — a sole proprietorship is OK. But if that’s not you, send this to one of your friends instead who is always saying they’d love to travel.
A number of folks here have this card, including Meghan.
She took advantage of the Fine Hotels & Resorts program that comes with this card and was rewarded with a $240 complimentary room upgrade — from her King bed she looked over majestic views of the Golden Gate Bridge. This premium service took great care of her with ANOTHER $240 worth of indulgent breakfasts in bed. Then she and her friend spent $100 worth of food and beverage credits on sparkling pink rosé and cheesecake. Personally, I might’ve hit the rooftop bar instead. 🙂
Here’s a view from her hotel someone posted on Instagram:
Like I said, this is truly a special offer, which is why we’ve been writing about it so much.
Before I ramble on, let me say, you’ve got to do some significant spending to unlock the 100,000 American Express Membership Rewards points they offer as a bonus — $25,000 in your first 3 months with the card.
If your eyes just popped out of your head, no worries, there are plenty of great travel credit cards with more reasonable spending requirements. But if your business typically does this kind of spending anyhow — this card is just about a no-brainer for you.
Let’s talk about what makes this card offer great:
Flights Are a Delight
100,000 American Express Membership Rewards points is not just mumbo-jumbo — after you do your spending you’ll have earned yourself any of the following:
- 3 round-trip flights to Europe
- round-trip in Business Class on 6+ hour flights on JetBlue (lay down to sleep in comfort, your luggage is out first, etc. Keith on our team will gladly tell you how awesome it is to fly coast to coast this way.)
- 5 round-trip flights to Hawaii from the West Coast
- 3 round-trip flights to Japan
- 1 round-trip flight to Tahiti
- just about $1,900 worth of flights with no blackout dates on your choice of one of 9 airline partners (Alaska, American, Delta, United, etc.)
(After you get your card come back and we’ll show you how easy it is.)
This Is Also the Absolute Best Airport Lounge Card
If you’ve never been, airport lounges are where savvy travelers go for comfort, quiet, complimentary food and drinks, fast Wi-Fi, and more. Most are pretty classy. You’ll definitely feel a big upgrade in your lifestyle over squeezing in with the masses who wait by the gate.
What sets this card apart even more is that you get entrance to the most luxurious airport lounges in the United States — American Express Centurion Lounges. In fact, my buddy in Las Vegas keeps his American Express Business Platinum card year out and year in large part due to the lounge there.
Yes, people post photos of it!

Don’t Be Like Everyone Else Wasting Time at Security
I’m not going to run down ALL the benefits but here’s the other big one in my opinion. You get up to $100 every 4 years to buy yourself one of the best deals for travelers — saving time going through airport security and immigration. You get a statement credit to reimburse your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application. (Go for Global Entry because with it you’ll basically get the PreCheck stamp every time anyhow.)
Tip: If you already have this, use the credit to buy it for someone you travel with so you can go through the faster lanes together.
Erase Luggage Fees
Sorry, one more perk worth mentioning: you get up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year for airline incidentals with your selected airline (luggage fees, in-flight food & drink, etc.).
Upgrade Your Travel Experience, You’ll Feel Better
Yes, this premium card has a price. It’s $450. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Just be sure you actually use your AMEX points for at least $1,900 worth of flights (we have great articles to show you how), your $200 airline credit, your $100s in Fine Hotels & Resorts upgrades, your $100s worth of airport lounges, your $100 Global Entry credit… you get the idea.
